He nodded at me, his arm snaking around my shoulders as I stiffened.
“Wow, thanks,” I said sarcastically as the guy stared down at me.
“Liam.”
“What?”
“My name is Liam,” he smirked, his breath fanning my face, all fags and JD.
“Yeah, not interested, mate,” I said, moving away from him.
“Ah, come on, I’m playing,” Liam protested.
“Well, she isn’t,” Raff barked. “If Zander sees you near her, he’ll batter you.”
“Why? Is she his sister too?” Liam rolled his eyes, and Ellie reached for my hand, tugging me towards her.
“Where thefuckis my brother?” Ellie said, glancing around. “Logan!”
“Ellie…” I whispered, gripping her hand. “Don’t.”
“Logan, can you tell this guy Jessicaisn’tinterested?” Ellie sighed as I felt hands on my hips from behind.
“Jessica?” The voice mumbled into my ear, the familiar scent wrapping around me as my soul relaxed.
“Zander, what’s the deal with these girls?” Liam laughed, but he was a little less confident than earlier.
“The deal?” Logan echoed, moving to my side, his handsome face scowling at Liam.
“Yeah, like, she’s your sister, but this one?”
Liam nodded at me.
I can’t breathe; this is it—will Logan tell Liam I’m off limits?
“Jessica doesn’t seem interested,” Logan muttered, and I felt my heart sink a little. I’d hoped he would have claimed me publicly, but he clearly had no intention of doing so.
Liam shrugged, gazing back at me.
“You sure you’re not interested, baby? I can show you a good time.”
Logan stiffened beside me, and I shook my head whilst he stared down at the floor wordlessly.
“No, I’m good. Believe it or not, I’ve had a better offer,” I whispered, pushing away from Logan as his fingers tightened around my wrist.
“Where are you going?” Logan demanded, tugging me back to him.
Ellie watched us with interest, and I swallowed, aware her brother was proving that he wasn’t interested in me.
I’ve been such an idiot. Ellie was right—why didn’t I listen?
“I want to dance,” I said, and he let go, his eyes locked on mine. “Have a good night.”
Emotion choked my throat, forcing me to walk blindly back to the house, anger pulsing through my veins.
What the fuck was that?
“Wait!” Ellie called after me, lacing her fingers through mine. “Jess!”
