“Baby.” She pouted, crossing her arms in front of her chest. “Is that any way to speak to someone who’s had your back througheverything? Where’s yourloyalty, Logan?”
“Here.” I pointed to Jessica, who looked up at me with confusion. “It’s with Jessica, so as I said, fuck off.”
Jenna glared at me, then sneered at Jessica.
“Yes, she’s much more yourthing. I deserve better than a fucked up waster like you.”
“Would you fuck off?” Jessica yelled, her eyes blazing with anger. Her body trembled in my arms, and I frowned, shooting a warning glare at Jenna, who smirked.
“Oh, by the way, I’ve been fucking Raff for the past few weeks. I highly recommend him next.” Jenna directed the latter part to Jessica as a laugh left my lips.
“What are best friends for, other than taking out the trash?”
Jenna scowled at me before she stormed off, leaving me with my girl.
“I’m sorry, she’s a fucking nightmare,” I muttered.
“Ihave your loyalty?” Jessica asked slowly, her hands resting on my chest.
“Yeah,” I admitted, pulling her close to me. “I know I’m not good enough for a girl like you, Jessica, but honestly—”
“Stop,” Jessica held a finger to my lips, her eyes searching mine. “Ialwayswondered why I wasn’t good enough for Carlisle.”
My stomach twisted with anger at the sheer mention ofhisname, let alone the thoughts of how he treated my fucking goddess.
“But now, standing in front of you, everything feels exactly as it should,” she whispered.
Something erupted in my chest, a feeling so unfamiliar I wasn’t even sure what it was. It was like someone had my heart in a firm grip that sent waves of emotion through every fibre of my being. It was so scorching that I was burning from the inside out, and this girl was the cause.
“I think…” She closed her eyes, and the sound of my heart thudding in my ears was almost too much to bear. “I think I’m in love with you, Lo.”
It was like a freight train had hit me, and I was still standing.
It’s a fucking miracle.
“Whoa, Jessica…” I mumbled, but she pressed her lips to mine, her hands lost in my hair as we fell back into our familiar groove.
She’s in love with me?
But it was then that I realised something.
I must be in love with her too.
My ears rang as I kissed her so hard she cried out, but I wasn’t bothered. Not in theslightest.
I couldn’t think about it; otherwise, the darkness would creep in like it always did, reminding me that it would never last.
Words are easy to say but much harder to prove.
But when it comes to action, Jessica had been nothing but consistent.
“Are youthatdrunk?” I smirked against her lips as she laughed nervously, her body pressing against mine.
“I’m definitely pissed,” she admitted, gazing into my eyes like I was the sky and she was the sun, which is pretty fucking accurate considering how she lit up my world. “But…”
“It’s okay; you don’t need to say it again.”
“Are you mad at me?” Jessica whispered, and I looked at her with disbelief.
