“Good,” I reply. “It’s nice to meet you. You and Nora look alike.”

They do, although he seems far more in tune with his wolf than Nora does. He’s strong, tall, bulky. He’s got the same dark brown hair, though, the same long, dark eyelashes, hell, even their eyes are the same shade.

There’s no denying they’re siblings.

“Thanks,” he says, his chest puffing out ever so slightly. That’s a good sight to see. He and Nora have chatted a few times over the last few days—well, previous to her leaving on Friday—and even though she claims otherwise, she’s been putting a lot of hope into the relationship she could have with him.

His behaviour here endears him to me.

I know he wanted Atticus to get his mate’s family out of their current pack, but if he continues being the good man he seems to be, I’ll be pushing for him to join us, too.

“Okay, here he comes,” David says as Atticus slowly comes into frame. He’s hooked up to an IV and drops down into the seat in front of me.

“You look like shit,” I say, smirking at him. He rolls his eyes and takes a sip of water.

“You don’t look much better,” he replies. “And I managed to kill twelve hunters to look this good. What’s your excuse? Lack of sleep?”

“What the fuck?” I demand, sitting forward in my chair as panic fills me.

Hunters? That never crossed my fucking mind.

He gives me a brief outline of how things went down, and my blood is boiling.

I fucking told him. From the get go, I told him that Nora needed more support. He was foolish, and now my mate is paying the price.

But, right now, I am the second to my Alpha. He’s not here in the pride, and I am the one running it. I need to keep my head in the game, and I can’t let my feelings fuck it up.

Nora needs me to be strong. She needs me to find her.

And once I do? I’m never letting her go.

“I want to go there,” I demand.

“No,” Orson says, shaking his head. “Atticus has made it very clear that you are not to leave pride lands.”

“Fucking hell,” I yell, snapping at Orson like it’s his fault. “I don’t care.”

“But we do,” Orson says. “Our mate is already missing, Fin. Do you really want to take away time we could dedicate to locating her to deal with you and your tantrum?”

I sigh and shake my head once. “No.”

“Good. Voss is on his way to the pack now, and once he and Atticus share information, things will hopefully move a lot faster. Have you felt anything through your bond?”

“No.”

He sighs now but nods. “Okay. Why don’t you come home? I’ll—”

“I’m going to go see my mum,” I say, and he frowns. “What?”

“I don’t want to let people know she’s missing,” he says, pursing his lips.

“My parents will not say anything,” I reassure him, and he nods. “But you asked if I’ve felt anything, and I haven’t, but maybe she can help me figure something out.”

Orson frowns. “How could she help?”
