Atticus

I’m sorry, little queen. I’m glad you’re taking it positively, though.

Nora

Only way I can.

If only you knew, Atty.

The toilet door bangs open, and I squeal as I nearly drop my phone.

“Cevon!” I complain, but my lion mate just shrugs and barges his way in anyway. “I’m on the toilet.”

“You are, but your knickers aren’t down, and I don’t hear you urinating,” he says as he comes to a stop right in front of me. He’s wearing only his boxers, his hair a mess with it sticking up everywhere at the back. He’s legit just rolled out of bed. “I got your message. I think we should get a second opinion.”

“Of course, you do,” I mutter, standing up from the toilet. I flush it and wrap my dressing gown around me as he just watches. “We’re not getting a second opinion. I like Kat, and I trust that she knows what she’s doing.”

He sighs, and the disappointment I felt from myself is there with him, too.

My phone buzzes, and I glance down to see another text.

Malachi

Ah, thank fuck, little warrior. I’m glad you’re relieved. I love you.

Nora

Love you, too.

“I’ll grab you a hot water bottle,” Cevon says. “And bring breakfast up.”

I shake my head. “I want to come down.”

“Don’t you have a therapy appointment soon?” he asks, and I sigh but nod. “What’s wrong? Want me to kill him?”

“No!” I mutter, tugging on my hair. “Killing people should not be your first instinct.”

He shrugs. “You live your life your way, and I live it mine.”

I laugh, and head through to the bedroom to start getting ready. I’m sad Micah’s not here any more, but I’ll see him once I’m done with my therapy session. Micah’s still got another few days off, and he said he’d extend it if I wanted more time off.

I love him for that.

Atticus went into work yesterday whilst I was out all day at appointments, and he’s done the same today. It’s pretty obvious why he’s no longer working from home, and whilst upsetting because it means there’s still tension around the house, it’s going to make things easier on me when I share my news.

You know, if George approves and all.

Cevon’s back with my hot water bottle and some pain relief, just as I set up the laptop for a call. George and I have been doing these in person, but I asked last night to do a video call. I don’t want to leave the house, and I know he’s too busy to come over today.

We’ve got a few things to talk about today, including my lack of fertility.

Because I might not want a baby, but something within me hates that the choice has been taken from me. Again.

Orson took the doctor’s words to heart when she said to incorporate more iron rich foods into my diet. We’re having venison—hunted by Malachi—with some kind of bean sauce lathered over it. A side salad with lots of green veggies, and even some pumpkin. Everyone else is drinking wine, but I have orange juice to help absorb the iron.

It’s amusing, and I’ve not complained. The meal is as delicious as always, and I’ve only had a few bites.
