It’s about time he realises that.

“I’m not saying that it’s a good idea,” Kai says, and I shoot him the dirtiest fucking look I can manage. Is he really going to sit there and try and comfort the fucking bastard right now?

But then he just stops. He doesn’t say anything else, and I can’t help but snort.

“Right,” Atticus says, sitting back with a sigh. He’s fully aware that he’s on his own team right now, and to take our mate with him, he needs to get our approval. “This is what needs done. I’ve got a plan.”

“Oh, a plan,” I scoff, glaring at him. “Do you think I haven’t sat and planned this out last week? This last month? Do you think I’ve just sat on my ass and just said all right, okay, we’ll figure it out, it’s all okay. No, of course not. I’ve come up with numerous fucking plans of what we will do and you’re shitting on them all with this bullshit.”

“You’re a little bit tense,” Kai says, side eyeing me like I’m the issue here.

“Tense? Tense? Are you taking the fucking…” I turn and walk out of the room and take a deep breath. If I stay in there, somebody is going to get their face smashed in.

And, honestly, I’d like to say that I’m smart enough to know that Malachi is the one who deserves it. But, unfortunately, it’s likely going to be Atticus that receives my fist through his face. He still owes me for the way he treated our girl last month and now, well,, he’s still not worked his way out of it.

Atticus and Malachi continue debating back and forth, talking low and quiet enough that I can’t hear them, and that pisses me off even further.

The front door opens, and I’m surprised to see Griffin coming in without his shoes on. He’s got a dazed smile on his face, likely from having spending the afternoon with our girl.

“Oh, hey,” Fin says, giving me a weird look. His eyes kind of rake over me, and he sighs. “What’s going on?”

“Atticus has decided that when they go back to the pack, only he and Nora are going.”

Fin frowns, shaking his head. “That’s stupid, I want to go with them,” he says, sounding extremely serious right now.

Am I really stuck dealing with so many fools?

Griffin’s an endangered creature, but, worse, he’s a mythical creature. He doesn’t get to leave the pride, and certainly not as security. Fucking idiot.

If he went, too, they’d need additional security.

Fool.

“Okay, now that’s stupid,” I say when he eagerly awaits my response.

Atticus knows better, knows that taking Nora and going just on their own is dangerous.

I can’t go, even though I’d love to, because I’m the second to the pride, and when Atticus isn’t here, I’m the one who runs the show.

Malachi can’t go because he needs to be here, too. He becomes my second hand, helping me run the pride, and since I’m not a cat, it’s easier to have a tiger at my back.

Not that anyone has challenged me or my rule in a very long time.

The griffin is obviously not allowed to leave the confines of the safety he’s guaranteed in the pride.

Voss? Well, honestly, he’s the one I’d want to go. He doesn’t even need to travel with them.

I click my fingers and nod, a plan forming in my mind. “That’s it.”

“What?” Fin asks, realising that I’ve had an idea. I ignore him and storm back into the room where Atticus and Kai are sitting, whispering to each other, already back to being on the same crappy team.

“What’s wrong?” Malachi asks, going on the defensive as if I’m going to hit him.

Well, the jury is still out on that one.

“Voss is going to go,” I say, and Atticus opens his mouth to argue, but I hold my hand up and silence him. “No, don’t try and argue. This makes perfect sense. It’s two birds with the one stone. We’ve got the issue happening with the pack just near Kennedy’s—”

“I don’t want Voss coming with us, though,” Atticus says.
