He helped Travis get the rest of the bags out of my car.
Of course my eyes drifted to the bag carried by Henry’s left hand.
That was my bag with my private stuff in it.
My bras. My panties.
All of a sudden I felt giggly and like I was going to blush.
“Follow me,” Henry said. “I’ll get you inside and then you can explore. I’m not good at giving tours.”
Travis hurried right behind Henry, a bag on each shoulder.
The smile on Travis’s face…
I keep thinking about it.
Henry led the way up a tall set of wooden steps and opened the front door to the house.
The place was wide open.
My eyes stuck to the back, where a set of windows gave sight right to the beach and the ocean.
“Holy crap,” Travis said as he dropped the bags. “This place is insane!”
“It’s not bad, kid,” Henry said. “First floor is all open concept, as you can see. Living room, fireplace, kitchen, dining room area. Little breakfast nook at the windows. Back deck goes one end to the other.”
“Thought you weren’t giving a tour?” I teased.
“Just talking,” Henry said. “Two sets of steps to go up to the second floor. There are bedrooms. Then a set of steps to the third floor. One big room up there. Best view if you ask me.”
“I call that room!” Travis yelled. “It’s all mine!”
“Better get your bag up there first then,” Henry said.
Travis looked back at me.
I smiled and nodded.
Travis grabbed his bag and took off running.
Every second or two he let out a Wow scream as he found something newer and cooler about the house.
“There’s a small elevator up here!” Travis called out.
“That’s a laundry chute, dude,” Henry yelled back.
“I am totally climbing into this thing!”
“No, you are not, Travis Andrew!” I yelled.
Adding the middle name made damn sure my son didn’t end up stuck in a laundry chute.
“He’s pumped,” Henry said to me.
“You have no idea what this means,” I said. “I’ll tell you everything soon enough. It’s just…”
My eyes drifted to an end table next to the couch.
