“Eons and eons ago,” Rachel said with a laugh. “How’s Chase? Still in Idaho?”

I nodded. “Runs the books for Dad’s business.”

“I’m so confused about how you two know each other,” Brooklyn said.

“They just explained it,” Sutton said.

Brooklyn rolled her eyes. “I know that. But Rach is from Wyoming.”

“Not quite. My mom recently moved there, but that was only a few years ago. I’m actually from Sandpoint in northern Idaho.”

“That’s where I’m from, too,” I added.

“Small world,” Mia said.

“Super small world,” Rachel said, hugging me again.

“What’s with all the squealing?” Savage demanded as he strode toward us. The other bikers were naturally curious too, so they followed suit and came over.

“Rachel and I know each other from like, another lifetime ago,” I said.

“Yeah.” Rachel nodded. “Another lifetime ago.”

I looked at her closely. Her eyes dimmed ever so slightly.

“I’m Linden,” the blonde with pixie cut introduced, momentarily stealing focus. “Everyone calls me Doc.”

“Nice to meet you.”

A yellow lab ran up to Doc and almost knocked her over. “And this beast belongs to me. Speaking of beasts, anyone see my biker beast?”

“Boxer’s handling the moonshine,” Mia said.

“Of course he is,” Doc said with a grin.

“What can I get you to drink, Doc?” Bones asked her.

“Sparkling water, please. Thanks.” She smiled at him.

“Logan? Rach?” Bones asked. “Drink?”

“Same for me,” I said.

Rach nodded in agreement.

Everyone began breaking off into smaller conversations so Rach used the opportunity to pull me away from everyone toward the picnic tables.

We each took a seat on opposite sides and faced each other.

She shook her head. “I can’t believe you’re here.”

“I can’t believe you’re here,” I fired back. “How did you get involved with a biker club?”

“I married one of them,” she said wryly.

“Yeah?” I looked around. “Which one is yours?”

“None of them. My husband died.”
