“Nothing, Doc.” Dev smiled innocently while she gripped Eugene’s crotch harder, causing him to wince as she batted her eyes at the newcomer.

“Lidi!” Eugene cried. “Make her stop!”

“Dev, let go of my brother’s dick.”

Several of the brothers laughed uncontrollably, Frank included, who stopped immediately when Claudia narrowed her eyes at him.

If it wasn’t one thing, it was another with this club.

King fucking knew Devlyn and Eugene couldn’t be in the same room together without bloodshed occurring, and yet, he sent Devlyn Never. The one person in Rosewood who made it her mission to annoy Eugene. When Dev refused to listen, I threatened, “Devlyn Never, let Enigma go right now or I will tell everyone that you secretly still sleep with your Eeyore blankie!”

The room erupted in laughter.

Even I had to admit that was funny.

Adorable, but funny. However, poor Eugene got the brunt of Devlyn’s ire. She slapped him hard on the chest, knocking the air out of him.

“That was fucking mean, Sugar,” Devlyn sneered. “You know paybacks are a bitch, right?”

“My life’s an open book, Dev. Do your worst,” I challenged, blowing our friend an air kiss when I heard Claudia ask, “Who are we still waiting for?”

“Granny,” Frank said, looking at his phone. “I called her, but she never answered.”

“Did you try texting her?”

Frank nodded. “Even called Georgie to see if he’s seen her, but nothing. He hasn’t left the hospital since the accident. I don’t want to wait any longer.”

“We can wait a few more minutes, Frank.”

The big, loveable man shook his head. “No. I’m done waiting. I’ve waited long enough for you. I want you legally bound to me for eternity.”

Claudia wrapped her arms around his waist as she tilted her head back to look up at him. “Eternity, huh?”

“Forever.”

Oh yeah. Those two were meant for each other.

Chapter Nine

Enigma

It was release day.

Well, just as soon as one of my brothers showed up and got me the hell out of here. I needed to get back to Sugar. I hated that she had to be at the clubhouse all alone. She wasn’t really alone, but I knew something was off with her the second we entered the place. I didn’t know what it was, but she was no longer happy and carefree, but more guarded, quieter. Of course, I probably didn’t help when I blurted out how I felt about her, but damn it, I couldn’t hold it in any longer.

Maybe she wanted something more romantic?

“You know I could have driven you home?”

“No thank you.” I cringed. “I want to see the sunset tonight.”

“Anyone ever tell you that you are a whiny bitch?”

Groaning, I muttered, “Dev. Go home. Banks will be here soon.”

“Can’t do that,” the annoying pain in my ass clipped, looking at her nails. “Promised Sugar I’d make sure you were okay. Woman’s worried about you, though I don’t know why.”

I said nothing, focusing on the door when Devlyn dropped her feet to the ground and sat up, glaring at me. “You told her. Didn’t you?”
