“If you are happy with the situation, then so are we,” Tristan stated.

“Really? The three of you would…”

“Share you?” Andrew finished for me. “Of course we would. We’ve already been doing that, after all.”

I looked at each man in turn, searching for any doubt. There was none. They were certain.

“Don’t you want to discuss this among yourselves first?” I asked.

Pierce chuckled. “What do you think we spent the past two days doing?”

Shared by three men. It was crazy. I tried imagining telling my parents about it, and the thought made me shiver. But like Andrew said, they had already been sharing me up to this point. Why not continue doing so into the future?

“There’s just one problem,” I said.

“You already said a problem,” Tristan pointed out.

“There’s a second problem,” I corrected. “I’m still not pregnant.”

Pierce shrugged. “Then I guess we’ll just have to keep trying. We’re not in any hurry.”

“I am extremely amenable to trying for as long as it takes,” Tristan said with an uncharacteristic grin.

“But the contract…” I said.

“Fuck the contract,” Pierce said. “We can extend it, or tear it up. It doesn’t matter to me. The only thing I care about is you, Melinda.”

“That’s going to be a problem for me,” I said. “I’m still only in this for the money.”

The three of them all flinched. Pierce’s jaw fell open, and Andrew’s eyes widened. Tristan was the only one who narrowed his eyes skeptically at me.

“Sorry, I couldn’t resist the joke,” I said, wiping some tears away. “The money was the reason I signed the contract in the first place, but I’ve found something far more valuable.”

“There’s just one problem,” Pierce said.

“Now you have a problem to add to the pile?” Tristan complained.

Pierce stared at me for a long moment. “Do you want to be a mother? Do you want to start a family? That’s a much different scenario than giving birth and then handing the baby over to me.”

I wasn’t sure. How could anyone be certain about such a big decision? But being with Pierce, Andrew, and Tristan had changed me. I didn’t just want to get pregnant and then leave. I wanted a life with them. And a life involved a family.

I always knew I wanted kids at some point. Why not now?

“I do,” I said. “As long as the father is one of you three, I do want to be a mother.”

Their relief was palpable. Especially Pierce.

“I… I need some food,” I said. “I normally eat right after my run.”

“I’m thrilled to hear you say that,” Pierce said. “About being a mother, I mean. Not the food thing.”

“What are you making?” Tristan asked.

I twisted the top off my jar of peanut butter. “A sandwich.”

“With only peanut butter?” he asked, revolted. “And white bread?”

“It’s good! And cheap.”
