She’d thought she’d done a really good job keeping this to herself for years.

“Do you think I’m the type of person to wait around for someone?” she asked, laughing.

“Never,” her grandfather said. “That’s the thing about my daughters and granddaughters. They don’t let anything hold them back or stop them from going after what they want.”

“Nope,” she said. “We don’t.”

She reached for the spoon to get another shell even though she wasn’t hungry. If she was paying attention to the food maybe he wouldn’t notice her aversion to this topic.

Because the truth was, she had her eye on a sexy pilot she didn’t get to see often, but when she did, he never bothered to be any different than how he was with anyone else.

The last thing she wanted to do was put herself out there with one of her cousin’s employees, and his best friend, to be rejected. Nor did she want anyone to feel sorry for her either if that happened.

For now, she’d just continue to keep this little secret to herself.

HIGH CLASS

Lincoln shut the helicopter off on Amore Island. It felt as if he was running like crazy today, but they were all pitching in knowing this could happen.

If it wasn’t for the fact that he knew his clients would be early and waiting for him, he wouldn’t have been able to squeeze in what he was doing right now, but everyone was willing to work it out.

Before he even could climb out, he saw Grace Stone come walking in her brisk stride toward him.

He always found her name a contradiction.

She wasn’t graceful at her five-foot one-inch frame. She was more than a foot shorter than him and maybe weighed a hundred pounds. It was probably an exaggeration, but even her bone structure was small.

For someone who made a living in the kitchen, it didn’t seem as if she ate a lot.

But that was just him guessing because with his love of food if he had someone cooking for him, he’d be fifty pounds heavier and would easily give up his fast food addiction.

Then there was her last name.

Stone.

He knew right away she was hard as her last name when it came to her career and those who worked for her.

Not that he’d seen her in action, but he knew the Bond family members took their careers seriously when none of them even needed to.

He could appreciate that character trait.

More so since he’d had to work to get where he was.

Everything he had he earned and would continue to do it and liked surrounding himself with like-minded people.

“Thanks for working around the schedule,” he said when Grace hopped into the helicopter. “I’m shifting things all over today.”

“Not a problem,” she said. “Everything okay?”

“Egan’s been at the hospital with Blake since this morning. No false alarm this time, but baby Bond is taking his sweet time coming out.”

“That’s exciting,” she said. “I’m sure Blake will be thrilled to be holding her son.”

“She will be,” he said. “Egan more so.”

Lincoln always felt that huge pang of jealousy when he saw his best friend and boss putting his mouth to his fiancée’s belly and talking to their son.
