“What are you talking about?” My head is all over the place, I don’t know what is going on. Clearly, I am missing something huge here, but to be fair I am a little distracted by my father somewhere around.

“Well…” He pulls something from his pocket. A little box. “I need to ask his permission.”

My breath gets caught in my throat once more. I can’t believe what I’m seeing here. I feel like I know what’s happening but since I’m all foggy and confused I don’t want to jump to conclusions. Because he can see how blank my expression is, he pops the box open to show me the incredible diamond ring inside. I can’t believe this, it shows how long he must have been planning it, which is wild, I don’t know what to say.

“You want to marry me?” I gush as my hand claps on to my mouth. “Are you for real?”

“Yes, I do.” There are tears in his eyes just as there are mine. “But I have to ask your father first. We might not do anything else in the traditional way, but I want to do this right. I want to ask your father first.”

My eyes dart between the ring, Winter, and Tim, and I eventually find the courage to nod. “Okay, let’s do this,” I tell him. “Let’s go and meet my father. Then you can ask him for my hand in marriage. Of course after that, you have the much more terrifying job of asking me. There is no guarantee that I will agree…”

But I grab him with my one free hand, and I kiss him hard letting him know that of course I will say yes. I couldn’t think of anything better than being Tim’s wife. He is my dream man, my happy ever after, the father of my child and the man who I want to be with forever. If we get married, then my life will only be complete.

But first, I have to fill in that hole and meet my father. But even that will be fine with Tim and Winter with me. Together we can survive anything.
