“Miss?” I leap up, almost sliding off the car in shock as a kindly voice shakes me from my thoughts. I didn’t even hear a car coming, I must have been so lost, so I don’t know how to behave right now. “Are you okay?”

My eyes rise up to meet a freaking sex God, a man so handsome that he literally takes my breath away. A guy so gorgeous that I could imagine him in a movie or something, not standing right in front of me. He has strong looking broad shoulders, gorgeous arms with a tattoo on his left one, caring, friendly blue eyes and lovely shaggy brown hair. I’ve never been very social because I have always had my studies to focus on, so I don’t have any experience with guys… much less a guy as good looking as this. I don’t even know what to think.

“No, of course you aren’t okay.” Luckily for me, he continues to conversation with ease, clearly not sensing my awkwardness at all. “You’re in a mess here, aren’t you? Your car is having problems, am I right? Can I take a look? I did some work as a mechanic a while back and I fix my own car from time to time.”

“You know about cars?” Oh my God, he is an angel sent from heaven. “Oh please, yes.”

“Fab, I will get to it now. Oh, by the way, just because I’m sure your mother always told you not to speak to strangers, my name is Tim Wilson. Now let’s just hope that I can get this car sorted for you.”

“Kayla,” I rasp back as a heat floods my cheeks. “Kayla Smalls. Thank you. I really appreciate this. Not many people who stop to help a woman in distress on the side of the world.”

“Well, I’m not like other people…”

I fold my arms across my chest and try to stop the tears from falling as this beautiful man shoots me a lop sided smile and bends to his knees to take a look at the under side of my car. This really could be it, couldn’t it? This could be the solution that I have been searching for, in which case I need to get myself back in order.

No more tears, I tell myself angrily. You are going to make it to the interview after all.

My stomach is still churning and my heart racing. I can’t say that I’m over the anxiety attack yet but there is a real calming presence about this man. There’s something about him which helps me to breathe a little easier. Maybe he really is here to save me, to make my life easier, to give me everything that I want and more. He’s the divine intervention that I didn’t even know I needed.Chapter 3 – TimI shove my sleeves up my arms and get to business, seeing what I can do to help poor Kayla Smalls and her car. I didn’t expect that the first person I would meet after leaving Emma and Rick behind would be a sobbing woman in a suit on the side of the road, but that’s the thing about adventures… anything can happen. I’m also definitely not the sort of person to leave someone who needs a helping hand. I like spreading joy… and if anyone needs joy it’s this woman. I don’t know what the hell is going on with her, but I’m sure that her tears have a lot more going on than just a broken down car. She is struggling with something more.

“So, what happened?” I ask her as I take a look through the engine. “To the car I mean.”

“It just… just…” God, she’s still half weeping, poor thing. “It started making noises and then smoke came out the front. I thought that I better pullover to the side of the road to take a look at it, but it won’t start now.”

“Hmmm.” I might not be an expert, but that doesn’t sound good. “Did you call a tow truck?”

“I don’t have any cell phone signal here. This is the middle of freaking nowhere.”

“Oh God, and I don’t have any battery on mine.” I curse myself for being so forgetful when it comes to technology. “Did you want to take more of a walk around to see if you can get through to anyone while I look? Just in case it’s something more complicated than I can get done right here.”

“Right, sure.” She nods a few times determinedly. “Yes, I can do that. Thank you, again.”

As she walks away, I can’t seem to stop myself from watching Kayla go. I should be focused on the car, but there is something a little captivating about her. Her petite, slim frame with curves in all the right places, her innocent wide brown eyes that are the same color as her hair, and that lovely ass of hers…
