I wrapped my fingers around his wrist, halting him. “Wait a second. What do you mean when I’m sober?”

Killian

OF COURSE LEVI didn’t remember what he’d said to me on the dance floor the night of my birthday. I hadn’t expected him to, and honestly, even if he had remembered, I doubted he’d admit it without prompting.

With his hand around my wrist, he asked again, “What do you mean when I’m sober? Did I say something?”

I slid my finger in between the buttons on his shirt, feeling the warmth of his chest. “You said I was the one who excited you.” Flipping open one of the buttons, I leaned in close and said, “Always.”

Levi trembled slightly, the fury in his eyes from seconds ago morphing into something altogether different—something passionate, fierce.

“Is that true?” I said as the warm breeze kicked up from the water and ruffled open Levi’s shirt. As the soft linen parted, it revealed a smooth, tanned strip of his skin, and there was nothing I wanted more than to kiss and lick my way down it. “Am I the one you want?”

Levi flexed his fingers around my wrist, and I could see his pulse thrumming at the base of his throat. Fuck, that was such a turn-on. “I really said that?”

“You did. So? Truth or lie?”

Levi swallowed, and for the first time ever, I thought I detected nerves on my sexy manager. “Truth. But—”

“Uh ah,” I said, placing a finger to his lips. “No buts. You add that and it takes away from the major victory I feel I just accomplished here.”

Levi’s lips curved under my finger, and when the smile reached his eyes, my heart close to stopped. The guy was fucking beautiful, and this was the first time he’d aimed a genuine smile my way in…weeks.

“I’m gonna go ahead and stop here for a bit if that works for you. The plan was to take you somewhere for lunch, but before we get there, I think maybe we should”—when Levi’s eyes fell to my lips, I smirked—“talk.”

I removed my hands from the tempting man in front of me, and as I was about to turn away to guide the boat further into the small bay, Levi took his sunglasses off, eyeing me closely.

“This won’t change anything, Killian. No matter how many talks we have, you’re still you and I’m still me.”

“Wow, that’s, like…genius, Levi.”

“Oh, shut up,” he said. “You know what I mean.”

I glanced his way and could tell by the way he was fidgeting with his sunglasses that the nerves from a minute ago were still there, even if he had been able to shove them back behind his manager’s mask for now.

“I don’t, actually. If anything, the fact that it is you and it is me is exactly why that should change things. We want the same thing here, Levi.”

As I drew the boat to a stop and cut the engine, I turned to face him as Levi asked, “And that is?”

“Each other.”

Levi groaned and brought his hands up to his face as the boat gently bobbed in the calm waters. “You are so…so…”

“Sexy?”

Levi dropped his hands and pinned me with a look that made my cock jerk inside my shorts, although I didn’t think that was his intention.

“I was thinking more like stubborn or persistent.”

“Or charming and good-looking.”

Levi chuckled and put his glasses back on. “You are a charming bastard, I’ll give you that.”

“See? That’s my second victory for the day—three and I’m on a roll. Want to just tell me you can’t wait to see me naked again? I won’t tell anyone you gave in so fast.”

“No,” Levi said, and turned to walk back up to the front of the boat. Then he took a seat so he was facing me. “I’m not going to make it that easy on you.”

I stopped directly in front of him in the narrow bow. “How about hard? Because I have to tell you, Levi, you’re really good at making me that.”

Levi’s eyes dropped to the hard-on I had no hope of hiding. “I think you should go and sit over there.” He pointed to the seats on the starboard side, and I chuckled.

“I mean, if you can’t keep your hands to yourself, I can—”

“Oh my God. You’re delusional.”

“And you’re really fucking hot when you get all…blustery like this.”

“Blustery?” Levi said, as I took a seat where he’d suggested. But I made sure to stretch my legs out in front of me and hook my feet around his. “I don’t get blustery.”

“Okay, how about wound up? Is that a better way to say it? This fiery side of you pushes all my buttons.”

Levi’s mouth fell open, and just when I thought he was about to lob a retort my way, he started to chuckle. The sound was raspy and sexy, and then he leaned back against the rails and put his palms up. “Okay. Okay. Shit. I give in. You’re clearly on a mission today, and”—he looked around at the secluded spot I’d anchored us—“if you want to say my practical business side turns you on, who am I to stop you? I’m a catch; you’d be lucky to have me.”
