I wound my arms around Killian’s neck and pressed my lips to his cheek, then his temple, and when he wrapped his strong arms around my waist, the weight of the last few days lifted from my shoulders. I hadn’t ruined this, hadn’t missed my chance, hadn’t missed our future.

Happiness filled my heart, my soul, my entire body, as I whispered in his ear, “I love you too,” and as I stood there wrapped in Killian’s embrace, I thought he’d been spot-on in how he’d described this…described us. It was certainly a story I could spin.

After all, who didn’t want to read about an epic love affair? Certainly not me.

Killian

One Year Later

“YO, V, I need that plate anytime now,” I called out from the patio, where I was busy flipping burgers on the grill. It was something to keep me busy so I wasn’t checking my phone every five seconds for the news we’d all gathered at my—and now Levi’s—place for.

Viper pushed the door open wider, an empty platter in hand. “Keep your panties on. I’m comin’.”

“You want this shit burnt? Didn’t think so.”

Viper rolled his eyes, but held his arms out so I could transfer the burgers to the platter. When I was done, I switched off the grill and then set about cleaning the grate while it was still hot.

“You think this is gonna be enough?”

“There’s twenty more patties inside, not to mention all the hot dogs. How fuckin’ hungry are you?”

“I’m just sayin’. Slade and Jagger said Imogen’s an eating machine lately, so I wanna make sure the rest of us get a plate.”

I laughed and finished the cleanup job before following Viper inside. “Don’t let her hear that or she’ll kick your ass.”

“Don’t let her hear what? You talkin’ about me?” Imogen’s green eyes flashed as she swiped another chip out of the bowl on the kitchen island and loaded it down with French onion dip.

“Just how lovely you’re looking lately,” Viper lied smoothly, setting the platter down beside the others.

Imogen frowned. “Why would I kick your ass for that? You wouldn’t be lying to me, now would you, V?”

Viper winked at me over her shoulder. “No, never.”

Before Imogen really did kick his ass, I said, “Im, why don’t you go put your feet up? One of your guys can make you a plate.”

Imogen pointed a chip at me. “See, if Viper had said that to me, I’d think he was just trying to get rid of me, but you’d never.” She popped the chip into her mouth and grabbed a handful more, dropping them onto a plate as she headed toward the living room. Before she got remotely near the couch, both Slade and Jagger popped up out of their seats, one grabbing the plate from her and the other helping her down onto the couch, a feat considering the size of her pregnant belly.

“We still on for the bet on whose baby it is?” Viper smirked my way, but didn’t realize Halo was behind him until his boyfriend landed a swift hit upside his head.

“I told you to cut that shit out,” Halo said, and I had to grin. He’d come a long, long way in the year since he’d found out about Imogen, Slade, and Jagger’s unique threesome, and he’d only had to grow more accepting eight months ago. There’d been yet another ass beating after the baby news, but things calmed down soon after when Halo realized he’d be an uncle. Not that he didn’t shoot the guys looks at times, but he’d finally come to terms with the fact that his sister had chosen two of his bandmates to be with, and that they treated her like a queen. As long as she was happy, Halo was…tolerant. Pleasant, even.

God help them if they ever hurt her. Hell to pay would be an understatement.

“Angel, it was a joke,” Viper said, turning to face Halo and planting a kiss on his boyfriend’s frowning lips. “You have to admit you’re curious.”

Halo shrugged, not confirming or denying, but come on. He had to wonder. “Im said they’ve talked about it, and it doesn’t matter, so…”

“One thing’s for sure. That kid’s gonna be seriously musically inclined,” I said.

Halo’s face brightened. “I’ve already got a miniature guitar and piano at the house, and one of those karaoke sets…”

As he continued to talk animatedly about the gifts he’d purchased that the kid wouldn’t be able to use for years, movement coming from the doorway of the rehearsal studio caught my attention. A flash of fuchsia paced behind the cracked-open door, a cell phone held up to their ear.

Levi.

Even now, looking at him, knowing he was mine, made my heart beat erratically, and it had nothing to do with the information he was digging for from whomever he was speaking to. Levi in full manager mode turned me on just as much as naked Levi in our bed, and had we not had a house full of nosy bastards, I would’ve slipped into the rehearsal room and shown him just how hot he made me every hour of every damn day.
