Slade lounged back in his seat, a smug look on his face. “That’s right. I took one for the team. I’m always willing to try something new.”

“Always?” the host said, and I almost groaned. There was no telling what would come out of Slade’s mouth with that opening.

“Let’s just say I’ve had much worse things in my mouth than Vegemite, that’s for damn sure. But that’s a whole other kinda interview.”

When Slade added a wink, Levi, who was seated off to the side of the booth, rubbed his fingers across his forehead. Then he looked at me, his dark eyes relaying a silent but very clear message: Bring the focus back to the band and the tour, please.

“We love Melbourne, though,” I said, and offered up my most charming grin. “The Marvel Stadium is one of our favorite venues. The crew has been working around the clock to set everything up for the back-to-back concerts coming up this weekend, and we couldn’t be more pumped.”

“Not sure if you’ve seen this, but there are already fans camped out in front of the stadium.” The host held up an iPad with a video of the long line of fans decked out in Fallen Angel apparel, holding up signs as they screamed in excitement at the camera.

As we read over the messages on the signs, Viper snorted. “Looks like Jagger’s got a couple of marriage proposals. Could get ugly.”

“Ladies, there’s plenty of me to go around,” Jagger said, grinning as the rest of us groaned.

“Please stop feeding his ego. He can barely fit his head on the plane as it is.” Halo elbowed Viper in the ribs, and he winced. “What?”

“Anyway,” I said, trying to corral the wild circus. “I think it’s awesome that the fans are hanging out, but they look a little hungry. We should probably send them some pizza.” I glanced at Levi with a raised brow, and he nodded, tapping on his phone already.

“I know you’ve got a packed schedule while you’re here, but before you go, I have to ask, will we get to see that spectacular winged piano during the show? We’ve all seen the pictures, and it looks like it’d be a massive undertaking to bring it all this way.”

“What’s an angel without his wings?” Viper said, winking at Halo before settling back in the chair beside him and throwing an arm over the back.

“So that’s a yes?” the host asked.

“That’s a hell yes,” I said. “We’ve got a few surprises up our sleeves, though, trying to make each leg of the tour a bit different.”

“Any hint on what those surprises might be?”

“Guess you’ll have to come see the show to find out,” Halo said.

“Well, I’ve got my tickets, but it looks like you guys are also offering up a couple of VIP tickets for two of our listeners. Can you tell us what that entails?”

“A chance to pop the question to Jagger,” Slade joked.

I rolled my eyes. “What he means is a meet-and-greet before the show as well as pit tickets. You’ll get a chance to hang out on stage, take a picture with the wings, grab a drink with us—”

“Hang on, can I enter this too? Because that’s one hell of an amazing package,” the host said.

“Come on,” I said, catching Levi’s eye again. This time he only smirked before focusing back on his phone, but I knew he was already taking care of anything that we threw at him. It was just the way he worked.

Smart. Efficient. Sexy. Not that the last one matters…

I forced myself to tear my eyes away, focusing back on the giveaway happening, making sure to keep the other guys on track as they cracked jokes. It seemed to always fall to me to be the one keeping shit in line, not that I minded much. It wasn’t like I was the rebel bad boy—Viper—or the one always putting his foot in his mouth—Slade. I was more even-keeled, not the one to rock the boat, but to drive it. That was the only reason Levi even communicated with me at this point—because I was the one to get shit done, and he knew it.

“Guys, great interview. Thanks for being here,” the host said once we wrapped things up and handed back our headphones. We all shook hands, said our goodbyes, and then headed out to the studio’s back entrance.

“Hey, Killian, wait up a sec.”

At Levi’s familiar timbre, I paused, looking over my shoulder at where he jogged to catch up with me. The turquoise pressed pants and white button-up shouldn’t have looked as good as they did on him, and I swept my eyes up and down his body before I could stop myself.

If he noticed me checking him out, he ignored it.

As the rest of the group headed out the back door to the waiting SUV, I shoved my hands in my jeans pocket and waited for Levi, determined to play it cool, determined not to touch him.
