“So where should we start?” I ask the room.

Jay raises his hand like we are in school and I point to him.

“Well, I think mine may be the simplest so let’s start there. Sound good?”

“Yes,” I respond.

“So I’m a wolf shifter, which means I literally turn into a wolf. I share the same instincts a wolf has, like to surround my mate in my scent or a stronger sense to protect her. I’m very territorial, although you’re the exception to that because I want you covered in my scent and surrounded by my things. I also want to wear your scent so other females know I’m taken. It’s all very primitive but I share my soul with a wolf so,” he finishes shrugging his shoulders.

A lot more makes sense with that explanation. Especially, why he’s always nuzzling me.

“That… explains a lot,” I say, “can I see your wolf?”

Jay seems excited and stands up right away. He starts stripping off his clothes and I raise an eyebrow in question.

“I would destroy the clothes if I shifted in them,” he explains.

And before my eyes, Jay’s body transforms into a giant wolf. He’s grey with black mixed in and he’s as tall as I am when I stand up.

He steps hesitantly closer to me and I lift my hand in the air to give him the choice whether I can touch him or not. He bounds forward and nuzzles against my neck like Jay always does and gives my face a big lick.

“Oh, Jay!” I admonish.

But I still pet him and run my fingers through his fur. His tongue pops out and his tail starts waging, making him seem like an over grown dog.

I make the mistake of saying so and he gives me an annoyed glare, but as a wolf it’s still cute. I keep that to myself.

Jeremy must think we’ve had enough because he reaches forward and pulls me back down into his lap.

Jay clearly doesn’t want to lose my attention because he hops up next to me, on the couch.

Nic stops him, “Jay, you’ll destroy the couch come on!”

Jay’s wolf gives Nic a glare but he hops down to the floor. He takes a seat right by my legs then rests his head in my lap. He gives me sweet eyes and I pet him, making his tail wag again.

Which reminds me, I need to ask the guys if I can bring Bailey here.

“Hey, before we continue, could I bring Bailey over for a couple days while I’m staying here? I don’t want to push him off on Anna and I don’t like being apart from him.”

Instead of the response I’m expecting, a ‘for sure’ or ‘sorry no’, they all look around at each other. I can’t interpret their faces. Jeremy is feeling unsure and a little guilty, as well.

“What’s going on?” I ask them.

“Well, Bailey isn’t a normal dog. We aren’t sure what he is but he’s clearly magical and from our world.”

Oh shit, are they serious? How can that be true? They must see the mystified look on my face because Jax continues.

“We will add investigating what Bailey is to our research about what you are, maybe they’re connected.”

“He seems familiar to me but I can’t place where,” Kiran adds.

“Okay, that all sounds good, still, can I bring him? Magical or not, I love him and feel connected to him,” I say.

“Of course, we just thought you should know,” Nic says.

I nod, setting that aside to deal with later. Right now, I want to focus on learning more about the guys.

“Who is next?” I ask.
