“It’s not a problem.” Monty assures her, “what’s her number? I’ll set something up for her to come by and we’ll talk.”

Monty takes Hayes and quickly puts him to bed. I get Evie’s number from Harper, and we say our goodbyes.

Making my way through the quiet house, I think about what was just discussed. There could be some benefit to the extra hands. I continue to think about it as I get ready for bed.

When I slide in between the sheets I wince briefly at the pain in my abs. I moved around a bit more than usual today, so I’m sore. I make sure to take some pain pills while I wait for Monty to join me in bed.

He crawls in and immediately curls around my body. Placing a kiss to my shoulder, “I’m sorry for not talking to you about the nanny thing before mentioning it to Xavier. I should have known he was going to blab it to Harper.”

A soft chuckle leaves me as I pat my hand over his.

“The man’s in love, give him a break.” We sit in silence for a few minutes before I continue, “but you have a point. We should probably get someone to help me out until I get the all clear from the doctor.”

Monty shoots up onto his elbow and looks down at me with astonishment. “Who are you, and what did you do with my wife?”

Smacking his shoulder, “oh shut up. I’m not that stubborn.” He raises an eyebrow in my direction, knowing damn well that I am that stubborn.

“I’ll call her tomorrow and invite her to dinner. Who knows, maybe she won’t be a good fit.”

“Ohhkayy, set it up, but you’re still being way too agreeable to this.” Kissing my temple he whispers in my ear, “are you sure you haven't been body snatched?” Snorting, I shake my head as we both get comfortable.

Who knows, maybe it won’t work out. Maybe, she won’t even accept the job, or she comes over and she doesn’t jive well with our family. Before I can think anymore on the matter, sleep takes me away.

Evie

Two Weeks Postpartum

Myphonebuzzesonmy nightstand. I had just crawled into bed with my current read. An Omega was just stolen from her pack and her Alphas are going feral trying to track her down and destroy anyone in their path.

I know instantly who it is, because who else would be messaging me at ten o’clock at night.

Harper: Okay, don’t be mad.

Evie: Famous last words…

Harper: So you know how you’ve been unemployed?

Evie: This is news to me.

Harper: Har-har. You’re hilarious.

Evie: Babes, I’m going to be dead and gone before you get to the point.

Harper: So Xavier and I were over at Monty and Josie’s last night visiting andbaby snuggles.

Harper: Monty mentioned how he has to get back to work next week and he was considering finding someone to come to their place and hang with Josie and the boys. You know because she’s still healing.

Evie: Harper…

Harper: Okay, but hear me out…

Evie: You didn’t.

Harper: Imayhave suggested you. Since you’re… You know… looking for a job.

Evie: Harper! You know I love kids, but I have zero experience in the matter!
