Miles retorts, “That didn’t stop you from trying to grope me every second you got, and last time I checked, she is my wife!”
Amber grasps my hand from over the desk while my mouth drops at his declaration, and Dr. Lavish’s face reddens with anger, but ignoring her, Miles winks my way and then walks over to room ten.
Holy…
Dr. Lavish stomps her foot and moves to follow him when a loud alarm echoes, making us all jump in shock, and a red flashing light blinks around us, indicating an escaped patient.
Crap, Mr. Dary.
Miles turns around instantly before entering room ten, his eyes coming my way. Dr. Lavish freezes in place, Amber gasps, and suddenly I feel a body pressed against my back, a blade at my neck, making me lift my head slightly and I tense.
Double crap…
Miles’s growl echoes over the alarm, and everyone pauses, seeing my predicament, his guard looking panicked.
I’m guessing he didn’t want to watch him take a crap again, like last time.
"Well, if it isn’t my favorite nursing assistant," Mr. Dary growls in my ear as he leans closer and I meet my husband's furious gaze from across the room.
“Not very smart of you to do this, Mr. Dary,” I say as the alarm stops and I hear the doors automatically lock around us, the prisoner being contained.
“Why? Because you lied about being married to a brother? Dr. Lavish said it wasn’t true, that you don’t even know the brothers, that you’re all talk,” he hisses, and the doctor in question pales.
Stupid jealous woman.
“Did you hear that, Miles? Apparently, we’re not married,” I say, not looking away from my husband, whose phone is now in his hand, and I see a call connected.
He’s called the cavalry, and hopefully, Crusher will be here on a job.
I feel Mr. Dary look up, then tense when he sees my husband, whose tattoos are visible around his collar.
I gasp as I’m dragged back. The knife digs deeper into my skin until it stings, and I feel wetness begin to build underneath it and Miles takes a step forward, growling louder.
Mr. Dary snaps, “Don’t move or I'll kill her!”
His body is shaking, he’s scared, and he should be, and the only reason why I’m not panicking is that my eyes are locked with my husband's determined gray ones.
“You’ve got five seconds to let go of my wife,” Miles threatens as he takes another step towards me, and Mr. Dary digs the knife in deeper, causing everyone to gasp as blood trickles down my neck but I don’t move.
“You’re not club,” he says, “you’re a doctor…”
Dr. Lavish lets out a small cry and instantly I know she’s ranted lies to the prisoner. My husband slowly unbuttons his shirt, spreading it open to show everyone his tattoos. The maintattoo, a golden spider in a crest, is on his right pec, my name clear as day on his ribcage, showing he had indeed claimed me.
Mr. Dary holds me tighter with fear, knowing the Carnage MC doesn't just shoot you when you hurt their own.
Miles points at me and snaps, “She’s not just my wife, the wife of the VP of the club, she’s also a sister of an officer brother, she’s a daughter of a brother, and you have just fucked up allowing her to bleed.”
I know I should be scared, but my eyes stay locked on his body—on the mat of hair leading from his navel to his slacks.
Crap, I really shouldn’t be lusting after my husband right now…
Amber clears her throat and I side-eye her while she raises a brow at me. I slightly lift my shoulder as if to say, ‘Have you seen my husband?’ and she smirks, then a relieved smile appears on her face and I know a brother is here, or a few by the gust behind me.
“Holding my sister at knifepoint?” I hear my brother, and I physically relax, but soon gasp when Mr. Dary spins us, the knife digging deeper, and he chokes, “Fuck,” seeing not one but five MC brothers, six if you want to include my father, who steps forward looking menacing with his tattoos all over his neck.
“Let go of my daughter, right now!” he demands, and I flinch as the knife digs even deeper.
“Oh god, it’s the scalpel I forgot to take out of his room with me,” I hear Dr. Lavish choke, and I roll my eyes not surprised.
