Okay, so it isn’t a knife-knife…

“You heard my father, let my sister go right now,” Crash demands as he takes a step forward, and I lock eyes with him.

His eyes race between mine before he gives me a subtle head nod, and I know what I have to do and seeing our exchange, Cage takes a step forward, giving me the opening I need.

Mr. Dary points the scalpel at him and shouts, "Don’t come any closer, Cage or I’ll kill her. I didn’t believe she was a club princess!"

I seizethemoment and slam my head back hard, connecting with the man’s nose and throbbing pain shoots through me as Mr. Dary screams out in pain, but I ignore it and I quickly duck as he brings the hand with the scalpel around as if to try and stab me.

Crash grabs me by my arms and drags me out of the way. I grip his cut and look just as Miles tackles the man to the ground, the man that is wearing only a gown, his hairy butt out, which makes me gag.

That is gross.

“Are you okay?” Crash asks as he cups my cheek and I wince at the pain in my neck just as gauze is placed there and I lock eyes with Amber's tearful ones.

“I’m alright, the club taught me well,” I say to her, and a few tears fall as she nods before I hear, “Brother, give me my wife,” and I look to Mr. Dary, now handcuffed to a pissed off guard, and my husband storming my way.

Amber steps aside as he takes over the pressure on my neck, then wraps his arm around my waist and slowly moves the gauze to take a look at the jackass’s handiwork.

Miles’s jaw ticks as he grunts, “Cage!”

“Already done,” Cage replies, and I look at the guard to see him nod.

Well, at least the man will suffer.

“Clark, why don’t you take the day off?” Amber sniffles, and I nod but wince at the pain in my neck while Dr. Lavish snaps, “She has a list to complete!”

Is she living on another planet or something?

Several growls echo in the room, making the woman jump back as my husband snaps, “And she was just held at knife pointbecauseyouleft a scalpel in a dangerous patient's room, which is cause for suspension!”

The woman flinches, and I lock eyes with my husband as Amber states, “Clark is off today, Dr. Lavish. She is under my supervision, not yours, and Dr. White, I do believe you are over your hours. Go home!”

Miles nods as he inspects my neck and mumbles, “It’s not deep enough for stitches, but it will scab and probably hurt like a bitch for a few weeks.”

I grab his arm, and we lock eyes again, and I say, “I’m okay, you taught me well.”

The memory of us sparring when I was sixteen flashes before me, when my lust for him really shone through and a small smile plays on my lips.

“Not the point, buttercup, I just had my whole fucking life with you flash before my eyes and it wasn’t long enough,” he whispers, and I swear my heart swoons.

Well damn…

“Take me home, Miles,” I say, and he nods before kissing me lightly. Then, without looking at anyone, he pulls me close to him and guides me out of the hospital and mumbles, “As soon as I’m done at the clubhouse, I’ll pick Willow up early, and we can have a family day.”

And by done at the clubhouse, he means killing Mr. Dary.

I don’t say anything or refuse, knowing right now he needs to stay grounded, and as we walk out the door, I hear, “Oh my god, Clark!”

“Not now, Belle, please,” Miles says, and she snaps, “She’s my best friend, you didn’t even want her!”

Well, ouch, thanks, Belle.

“Belle!” Crash snaps in shock, and she gasps, “I-I, I’m sorry, I just, I was worried…”

I don’t hear what else she says. Instead, I grip Miles by his coat and burrow into his side while he guides us out of the hospital parking lot, keeping the gauze to my throat, and the brothers follow.

Miles kisses my head, and I close my eyes and lean on him letting his warmth suck me in.
