Me: I don’t know. Thanks for checking in on me ♥?Goodnight.
She replied with a moon emoji, and I turned off my phone.
Did I have feelings for Drea? The thought terrified me…
Chapter Twenty-One
Drea
After my night with Blair, anytime I needed a release, the image of her riding my face came to mind.It was so incredible, but I knew it wouldn’t happen again. Nobody needed to know, and I could just move on with my life.
We didn’t have to see each other for another few weeks, but I was still nervous to see how it would go. I wondered if I should call her, maybe see if she wanted to hang out, but I admit, I was scared. I was scared I wouldn’t be able to handle being around her, knowing that one perfect night was all I would ever get. I was scared to admit that I might have wanted a lot more than just one night with Blair.
Today I was meeting Cara for lunch at the Luna Rosa before our weekly pickleball game. There were a few things about the signing she wanted to discuss.
As I walked into the restaurant, my stomach was in knots. The last person I wanted to discuss with Cara was Blair.
I didn’t know how to be honest while also not telling the whole truth. It was only one time, but I didn’t know what I would do if Cara ever found out about it. I wasn’t sure how she would handle it, considering how difficult we had been for her over the years.
“Hey, doll, you look great!” Cara greeted me with a hug and a double-cheeked kiss. I showed up to lunchin a silver silk button-up blouse and black trousers, and Cara was wearing a white sundress.
I gave her a wide grin. “Hey, love. Thanks, so do you. Did you order already? I’m starving.”
She laughed. “Not yet, I was waiting for you.”
We both ordered the chicken and fettuccine pasta with asparagus along with a caesar salad. Luna Rosa had the best chicken.
“So, what did you want to talk about?” I asked as the waitress left the table.
“Oh, right! I wanted to talk about the signing. I know you approved the capacity and a few other things, but I wanted to talk about the fees, just the two of us. I know we’ve done this before a handful of times, but I wanted to clarify and make sure we are on the same page, especially since I know things might be a little tight, hence the reason for the signing in the first place.”
I laughed. “I almost wish I couldn’t afford it.”
She rolled her eyes. “Drea, honestly, you two are ridiculous! This sounds absolutely insane, but you two bicker like an old married couple. The way you both argue almost makes me think you could have feelings for each other or something.”
My water went down the wrong way as I began to violently choke.
“Oh my God, Drea! Are you okay?”
Barely breathing, I responded in between coughs, “Yeah… I’m fine… water went down the wrong way.”
If only she knew the feelings I had for Blair… Wait, what feelings did I have for her? I was sure the attraction was just my deprived libido talking. I was convinced that after we had sex, my feelings would go back to normal, back to the way they had been before I started to get to know her.
We slept together once, and until then, we hated each other. But the more time I spent talking to her and just being around her, the more I realized I could be content if I never did anything else.Get it together, Dre!
Thankfully, our waitress came back with our food before she could press the issue anymore.
“Where were we? Oh, right, you and Blair.”
“What?!” I yelled out, unsure as to why I raised my voice so much. I cleared my throat and tried again. “Whatabout me and Blair?” As far as I knew, there wasn’t a “me and Blair.” It was just one night, and I was not going to tell Cara.
“How are things going with you two, anyway? Are you even getting along at all?”
My fork stopped mid-air and my face heated. There was hope in her tone, and I knew I couldn’t tell her the truth, but I could throw her a little bone.
I cleared my throat. “You could say that, yeah.”
“Good. See, I told you things would work out! She’s great once you give her a chance and get to know her.” She smiled and took a drink.
