Dr. Vogel shrugged. “Happens sometimes in distressed birds,” she said. “They can be as safe as anything, but if they don’tfeelit, they’ll hang on to the eggs longer.”
“I don’t want to hang on to them any longer,” JP protested. He felt practically immobile; he couldn’t sit or stand up without help. If he lay down, he was stuck there until Jack gave him a hand. He couldn’t bend at all in the middle. If he ate anything, he was full instantly and had heartburn immediately after. His hips ached. His back ached. His feet ached. His hands were swollen, because he was retaining water now.
Dr. Vogel hummed, then said, “I didn’t bring it with me, but I can induce labor.”
JP thought that sounded more terrifying. He said nothing. She glanced him up and down. “I’ll bring it with me next week, and we’ll do that if you haven’t started laying before then.”
“All right,” he agreed reluctantly.
The second she left, he went to the nest and tried to will himself into delivering the eggs.
It didn’t work.
“Don’t strain yourself,” Jack told him in the morning, drawing him back to their makeshift bed. “It’ll happen naturally, when you feel safe.”
“I’m not going to feel safe,” JP huffed. “Not any time soon, at least, and I need these thingsoutof me.” He put both of his hands on his belly, as if to emphasize the point. “I’m a liability at this point—I can’t move without your help.”
“Mm,” Jack said, reaching up and fluffing his hair.
“I can’t shift,” JP continued, gauging the alpha’s reaction. “If Burr or my father were to show up while you were out …”
“Yeah,” Jack agreed, then slid one hand down to cradled JP’s belly. “To be fair though, all the eggs are safe in here right now. What are you gonna do when they’re out? You can’t grab all of them and run around with them.”
JP frowned. He hadn’t thought of that.
Jack ran his fingers down the center of JP’s abdomen, from his navel down to his hips, right along the curve of the egg-heavy bump. “Plus,” Jack said, “you’re pretty cute like this.”
“Cute?” JP didnotfeel cute. He felt like a whale.
“Yeah,” Jack said absently, his fingers catching over JP’s collection of stretch marks—some of them fresher than others. The alpha rolled over so he was on his stomach, dark eyes sparkling in the low firelight as he looked up at JP. “All round with eggs.”
JP grunted in reply, then shuffled over to hide the way he shivered as Jack stroked his tummy. The alpha leaned over and pressed a kiss to JP’s bare skin. “I think I’ll miss you all puffed up with our eggs.”
Something came unhinged in JP’s brain. “You could get me pregnant again,” he heard himself say, then let his own eyes go wide to mirror Jack’s shocked expression.
“Golly,” Jack said, “let’s get these eggs out of you first, birdie.”
“Yeah,” JP agreed. “Sorry. Dunno why I said that.”
Jack snorted, a funny little smirk forming at the corner of his mouth, and JP’s stomach twisted nastily. Maybe hewasjust a brood omega, begging to get bred up. He’d no sooner lay one clutch than be sitting on Jack’s cock to get the next brood in his belly.
He shivered. He liked the thought more than he wanted to. He ghosted a hand over his stomach. He glanced down. “You really think I look cute like this? I feel like I’m gonna pop.”
“Yeah,” Jack said. “You look a bit like it too. It’s cute—dunno if it’s ’cause you wear it well or ’cause they’re my eggs making you all round like this.”
He rubbed a hand vigorously over JP, and JP felt blood rushing into the folds around his hole. He bit his lip as Jack kept petting him. “Unf,” he said finally, rocking his hips, hoping Jack would get the hint and move his ministrations lower. “I, um.”
Jack lifted a brow at him. “You’re into it, huh? The idea of being constantly knocked up.”
“Y-yeah,” JP admitted, letting his eyes go wide as Jack slid his hands into his pants and ringed his hole. “I am.”
Jack rubbed his hole a little more vigorously. “That’s why you won’t let the eggs go,” he whispered, leaning over JP, pushing a finger inside him and crooking it. The angle was all wrong, and JP’s clothes made it tighter than he liked, but he was too turned on to care. “You don’t wanna stop being pregnant yet.”
“Yeah,” JP agreed, rocking his hips into the alpha’s touch. He looked frantically up at Jack.
Jack’s expression was unreadable. He pushed a second finger into JP. “Tell you what,” he whispered, leaning down so only JP could possibly hear him, “you lay this clutch and I’ll get another one in you before this one hatches.”
JP bit his lip and ground down on the alpha’s fingers. “Can you—will you?” he panted.
