“Reese, stop acting thirsty!” Rayna put me on blast, which made mama laugh out loud.

“Leave my baby alone, Ray. He’s in love.”

I dismissed her comment with a wave. “You tripping now, mama.”

“I don’t know, Re-Re. I’ve never seen you blush before,” Rylee chimed in on the bullshit.

“Man, forget y’all.” I hopped up to leave, ignoring their laughter behind me. That’s one thing I hate about being the only nigga in the family. They’re always in my business.

I walked to the room and then hooked the speaker up to the Bluetooth. For the last few days, I’ve been here. I just ain’t wanna leave them after what I witnessed. I’m going back home soon though.

Now that I’m away from everybody, it really hit me that my nigga was gone. Sin did some messed up shit to a lot of people, but I knew him most of my life. This one was gone take some time to get used to.

Firing up a blunt, I sat in the chair to reminisce for a minute.

Sin was around when I called myself having a girlfriend for the first time. His ass clowned me because he said she was ugly. I remembered when we jumped these two niggas after school in the tenth grade because they talked about my mama.Damn! I’m gone miss you, nigga.

I blew a puff of smoke in the air, eyes glistening with tears I won’t let fall. They were heavy too, because I ain’t been to sleepat all. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw my nigga looking back at me, eyes wide open on the floor. I was halfway done when somebody knocked on the door.

“Yo?” I called out, indicating for whoever it was to come in. Rylee poked her head in.

“You got a visitor, brother.” She opened the door all the way, and Ronnie stood nervously on the other side. I usually see her with makeup on, but she ain’t have on none today. I think she looked better without it. Playing with the edges of her oversized sweater, she smiled sweetly.

“Hi.” She averted her eyes elsewhere. “I hope I’m not bothering you.”

“Nah.” I hopped up, almost burning my damn self with the blunt. I forgot I had it in my hand. Dusting my pants leg off, I tilted my head. “Come in.”

Ronnie smiled shyly at my sister as she came inside. Rylee stood there grinning for no reason at all.

Fuck so funny?

I gave her a weird look before closing the door in her face.

Chapter 25

Ronnie

“I’msorry for just dropping by on you like this.” I sat down on the edge of the bed, wrapping my arms around myself. The last two weeks have been hard for me. I wanted to be around somebody who knew what I was going through. Reese took a seat, putting no space between us.

“Nah, I’m glad you did. How you been?”

“I haven’t slept,” I admitted. Since I got to my dad’s house, all he’s done is ask me questions, so I had to leave. I was tired of it.

“Yeah, I’ve been up too.”

Thinking about Sincere, I started choking up. “H-how could that happen? He was just right there.”

I didn’t know Sin’s intentions when his eyes went toward that gun. I thought he was gonna have a shootout with the police, or he was gone kill all of us. The last thing crossing my mind was Sin accidentally shooting himself.

“I know. That shit was crazy.” Reese put his hand on my thigh, rubbing his thumb in a circular motion.

“I keep seeing the look on his face when I realized what he did. I can’t close my eyes without thinking about it.” I blinked rapidly to get rid of the tears.

Reese turned his head to me.“You talk to somebody?”

“I’m talking to you,” I stated obviously.

“Nah, baby. A professional person,” he answered, licking his lips.
