“Did you want a drink?” David asked as he stepped into the kitchen. He opened the door to the back yard and let the dogs out. “The yard is fenced and it’s Wally-proof, so they’ll be okay.”

“A drink you say? What are the options?”

“Beer. Wine. Orange juice. Tomorrow there’s two kinds of coffee to choose from.”

“Ooh, tomorrow you say?”

Color rose in David’s cheeks. “It’s an option.”

“David, are you asking me to spend the night?” I stepped closer. My hands had a mind of their own, and one reached for him. It slid up his chest and wrapped itself around the back of his neck. My fingertips teased the short hairs on the back of his head and he shivered under my touch.

“I might be kind of rusty, but it seems to me that only one of us got to come. And though I probably can’t get it up again quite yet, there’s plenty of things to keep me occupied until I can. I just need to know your rules first.”

“My what?” I blinked at him, his words not quite computing. And that’s when David put his hands on my hips. His fingers trembled a little, but he leaned in and he brushed the softest fucking kiss to the corner of my mouth.

“Everyone has rules, Josh. For example, I’m pretty easygoing, but I don’t get off on pain. I need to know your rules.”

How was he even fucking real? The last guy I’d been on a date with had the manners of a brick. He was brutish and crass and had never met a boundary he didn’t want to cross.

My rules. Fuck. I never expected to get to this part so soon, but I guessed that’s what happened when you suck a dick under a willow tree.

There were things that he didn’t need to know yet, like how I felt better when I was the one in control. Even when I was on the bottom, I liked to keep some sort of control of the situation. But there were things that I could tell him. Things he needed to know.

“Don’t call it a pussy or a cunt. Hole is fine. Dick is fine. You can use either hole; I don’t mind.”

David frowned at me, and for a second I was ready to get my dog and get the hell out of here, and then he brushed his fingers against my cheek. “I don’t want you to not mind something, Josh. I want you to enjoy it. To want it.”

“Oh.” The word puffed out of me, taking all my anger with it.

“Tell me what you want. Tell me how to make you feel good.”

David had walked into my head and kicked the door down on the little locked room in my mind where I kept all my wildest dreams. The more I was with David, the more I felt like he’d been made just for me.

“I want to sit on your face.” The confession seemed crass given in the coziness of his kitchen, but I couldn’t take it back even if I wanted to.

He looked at me like the cat who ate the canary, or was about to in this case. He still seemed a bit unsure, but it had been awhile for him.

“One more awkward question and then we can bring the dogs inside.”

“Shoot.”

He grimaced, obviously embarrassed. “If things get to that point, of course we’ll use a condom, but I just want to check and make sure what you’re using them for. Like… are they just STI prevention or….”

Suddenly understanding his line of questioning—poor man—I smiled at him. “I had all the baby-making equipment yeeted, ifthat was your concern. So don’t worry. You’re not going to end up with another kid.”

“I was more worried about what it might mean for you, to be honest. But I’ll admit I’m a bit relieved, if that’s okay. I’m too old for babies.”

Determined to get the mood back on track, I stepped into his personal space again. I wound my arms around his waist and slid them down his back until they came to rest on his ass. Taking his cheeks in hand, I yanked him closer.

“You know, I get tested regularly, and I’m negative.”

“I haven’t been with anyone in a long time, but I’ve been tested.” David grinned at me, then kissed my cheek. “Don’t look so surprised. I didn’t live this long with only one kid by accident. And then when I got older, my kid convinced me I should get tested after every partner.”

I wrinkled my nose, aware that the mood had dipped a little. “I know this isn’t the sexiest conversation.”

“Are you kidding? There’s something… erotic about knowing what you can and can’t do with a person. Sure, asking can be uncomfortable, and I’ve got the market cornered on that. But I think it’s kind of hot to talk things through first. To know where the boundaries are, and what the possibilities are too.”

“How are you even real?” I sighed.
