“Oh, you know, just your standard enemies to lovers. Doug really upsold me.”
I focus back on my computer, hoping the subject will change.
“Come on, man, tell us more,” Zane says.
I shake my head and blow out a breath. How much do I share? Not all of them know what’s happening in my life, and this sure as shit isn’t the time to tell Simon. One, one-on-one is better and two, Calla should have a say on when that happens, so yeah, it’s not happening now. The less I share, the better.
“Just a couple enemies who get drunk and then get married to each other. Should be a good romcom, and HBO will do it right. I’m thrilled.”
“Classic,” Simon says with a laugh. “HBO is definitely the right choice if you want to keep the type of steam you write in the storyline. And two people who hate each other and are forced to be together until they admit their feelings. That’s hot.”
I rub my burning neck, then look up. Tobias is shaking his head, and Graham looks like a kid at Christmas.
“Yeah, it’s good.” I look at my watch. “Shoot, you know what, I need to run. I have some, um, papers to look over for Doug for this movie, and I should probably do it while the topic is fresh in my mind.”
The boys give me another round of congratulations, and Tobias walks me out.
“Is this for real?” he asks once we’re outside. It’s crisp out. And I bounce back and forth on my feet.
October in Wyoming is hit or miss. You could have campfire fall weather before bed and winter when you wake up. Given the temperature right now, I’m expecting snow in the morning.
I blow out a breath.
“It was an accident.”
“Does Calla know?”
“Not yet.”
“Yetbeing the key word here, right?”
“I’ll tell her tonight.”
Now that everyone knows about the movie deal, there’s no way I couldn’t tell her.
Hell, I should have told her the day I made the decision.
“Good.” He smirks. “I’ve never seen you this… relaxed.”
“Relaxed?”
“Yeah. Like, you don’t seem in a hurry for much the last week or so. You’re just enjoying each day as it comes. Calla is good for you.” He winks. “You two need to come clean soon.”
I grin. “Sneaking around is fun though.”
He shoves my shoulder.
“Tell her.”
“I am.”
“Talk to you later, then.”
He waves and heads inside. I climb into my SUV and head home.

“Beck!” Calla shouts from upstairs. “Beck, guess what?” Her voice grows louder, and I can hear the excitement in it. I meet her on the staircase as she comes racing down.
