Jeffrey drags a hand over his face. “That’s the worst part.”
No.
The worst part is Oliver growing up without his mother. The worst part is Megan buried under an official report calling her negligent. The worst part is Addy sleeping in my bed, carrying three babies, while another man’s selfishness rewrites the shape of my entire life.
“Print everything,” I say.
“We need digital chain preservation?—”
“Preserve digital chain. Print copies for counsel. Lock down every archive Bryce may have touched.”
Jeffrey nods. “Already in progress.”
“Revoke every remaining legacy credential.”
“Done.”
“Full forensic mirror of current infrastructure.”
“Running.”
“Find Bryce.”
Jeffrey pauses. “We know he’s still in Chicago. Sara’s security contact tracked his hotel keycard activity last night.”
“Where?”
“The Langford.”
I pull out my phone.
Jeffrey immediately steps in front of me. “No.”
“Move.”
“No.”
“I’m going to talk to him.”
“You’re going to commit felony assault in a hotel lobby.”
“I haven’t decided yet.”
“That isn’t comforting.”
My hands curl into fists. “He killed my wife.”
“He may have caused the crash,” Jeffrey says carefully. “And we’re going to prove it legally.”
“My son grew up without his mother.”
“I know.”
“He sat in my home. Around Addy. Around Oliver.”
“I know.”
“He looked me in the face while knowing what he’d done.”
