Jeffrey’s voice lowers. “I know.”
Silence.
Then the secure room door opens.
Sara steps inside holding her tablet against her chest. One look at our faces tells her enough. “What happened?”
Jeffrey looks at me.
I answer myself. “Bryce accessed Megan’s aircraft stabilization system eleven hours before her fatal flight.”
Sara goes pale.
“We recovered the authentication logs, unauthorized patch uploads, and mirrored backups he failed to wipe.”
Her throat works visibly.
“The case is being reopened,” I continue. “Federal aviation investigators are coming in.”
Even Sara Williams, PR genius and professional crisis assassin, looks genuinely shaken.
Then her composure snaps back into place. “Okay,” she says quietly. “What do you need?”
“Legal containment. Quiet coordination with investigators. No public statements until counsel approves language.”
She nods.
“And Bryce?” she asks.
I hold her gaze. “He gets arrested.”
Jeffrey mutters under his breath, “Legally.”
I ignore him.
Sara checks her email, then looks between us carefully. “Federal investigators officially reopened Megan’s crash case.”
The words hit harder than I expected.
Reopened.
Megan’s name finally has a chance to breathe again.
Sara continues carefully. “NTSB and FAA investigators are coordinating jointly because of the demo sabotage connection.”
“Good.”
“There’s more.”
Of course there is. She slides the tablet across the table. An authorization form. Federal warrant request.
Submitted.
Approved.
My pulse goes dangerously still.
“They moved fast,” Jeffrey says quietly. “Once the authentication logs and unauthorized uploads were verified, counsel pushed immediately.”
