"Coffee would be nice, thank you."

"This is our omega, Emilia. Emilia, these folks from OPA are here to talk with you." Jake smiled, sat down and patted the sofa beside him.

I went and sat down, tugging nervously on my T-shirt. "Hi, sorry, I wasn't expecting company. I'm still in my painting clothes."

"I'm Agent Bellane and this is Agent Russo," the woman smiled. "We received a call for a wellness check on you at this address."

"A wellness check? Who called?" I couldn't think of anyone who would actually care about me. Most people didn't know I existed. Daryl's words came back to me, but there was no way the neighbors had thought to call.

"We're not at liberty to say, I'm afraid." She gave me a warm smile. "I can see you look pretty healthy, so we'll just run over a few questions and get going."

"Sure."

Jake's fingers dug into my side as I sat there. I winced at the pain and shifted closer to him. Even though he had basically rejected me, there was a moment of peace with his warmth against my side. I'd missed this, missed being touched by another person.

"How long have you been with this pack?" Agent Russo asked.

"Almost a year and a half, I think?" I glanced at Jake and he nodded tightly. "Yeah, about that."

"Good. How many heats have you had with them?"

"Five."

"Only five?" Agent Bellane asked.

"I'm on suppressants," I told her.

"I'll need to see the prescription for those, then," she said, tapping something into her tablet.

"Daryl?" Jake said quickly.

Daryl jumped up and went upstairs.

Candace returned with coffee for everyone, including for me. She handed out the mugs with a smile, set out sugar and cream, and settled in next to Rory.

The next several questions were about my life here. I was asked what I liked doing, what my tasks were in the home, etc.

"I enjoy reading and painting and I'm hoping to start a flower garden next spring," I said honestly.

"Do your alphas provide you with the materials for your hobbies?"

"Yes, I have an allowance each month that I can use for supplies."

"How much is the allowance?"

"Two hundred dollars," I told her. Jake stiffened beside me and I frowned. Was he ashamed of the small amount?

"Of course we provide everything else she needs, clothes, food, beauty treatments, and such," Jake spoke up. "That allowance is just to prevent us from living in a home made of books. Our omega really enjoys reading!" He squeezed me closer to his side.

"What was the last beauty treatment you had?" Agent Russo asked, scanning me.

I must look like a mess. I hadn't showered yet today and my hair was a little disastrous. Daryl hadn't given me time to style myself before coming out.

"A haircut," Jake said. "You wouldn't know it to see her, but she doesn't really like most treatments."

"Okay. No nails, spa days, etc.?"

"Not really my thing," I said with a smile.
