“Alright. Alright. I get it.”

“Good. So don’t be fucking contrary and don’t try to bully these poor women until they quit.”

“Yeah, yeah.” He waved me off. “Anyone want anything from the kitchen?”

“No, sir.”

“Nah.”

“Okay. I’ll be back.”

He cast long looks at me and my sister then left the room.

I glanced at Chandler.

“He’s taking this better than I thought he would,” I admitted.

“Yeah. He knows we aren’t trying to be malicious and that we love him.”

“Good because his ass was giving me the fucking blues when he was still in the hospital.”

Chandler chuckled and we both laid our heads against the back of the couch. We stared at the ceiling in silence for a little before turning our heads to look at each other.

“How are you feeling?”

“About what?”

“Everything. I mean your album just came out and it’s doing well, so there must be a tour coming up, right?”

“Nah. Not really. I’m just… riding the wave right now,” I admitted. “The album is doing great. I’ve gotten some offers for remixes and live performances and shit, so I can make good money from right here in the city.”

“I know you don’t necessarily need the money from touring but it can’t hurt to have it.”

“It wouldn’t hurt but it’s not a necessity right now, and with Myome on her fundraising shit and Pops just getting out of the hospital, now isn’t really the time for me to try to put some kind of tour together. I need to focus on promoting my current album, starting on the next one, doing whatever I can to keep my wife in the booth and outside of her own head, and making sure Pops isn’t out here just doing anything.”

“Fine. Let me tell you something real and I don’t want you to freak out but I want to put it on your radar.”

“Alright.”

“The label is amazing and the artists are amazing but they aren’t exactly pulling in money just yet.”

“But money is already coming out,” I offered.

“That’s right.”

“We’re not in the negative, Chandler.”

“But we’re not as in the positive as I feel we should be.”

“Which is why you’re bringing up touring?”

“That’s right.”

“I’ll talk to Myome about it.”

“Myome’s gone on tour, Berlin. I’m sure she’ll understand.”

“I’m not saying she wouldn’t, but I’m not making a five-month commitment without talking to my life partner, Chan. Besides, there’s other ways to make money. I can open feature slots again. I can start producing outside of the label. I’ve got investments I can get rid of. I’ve got enough tracks in the vault to put out another album and make it available through physical media only. Worst case scenario, my credit is good in the industry and with the bank. I can get a loan. Shit. Myome has a house we don’t use and we’ve talked about selling. If I can’t do anything else, I can make some quick cash. Don’t worry about it.”
