He dislodged, allowing me to get up.
I opened the door in case Pluto decided to come in and spend some time with us, before heading into the bathroom, where I took care of…stuff.
Because you don’t need to know everything, do you?
After I finished up, I checked myself in the mirror, discovering my hair was all over the place, my cheeks still flushed from everything we did.
Fuck, I look like hell and Daddy still wanted to bond with me?
In a panic, I fixed my hair and splashed cold water against my cheeks, when the sound of Pluto’s barking came from the bedroom. Guess he decided to come talk to us again after all.
But as his yapping persisted, a knot tightened in my gut and an instinct told me,Something’s wrong with Daddy!
I rushed into the bedroom—and froze in place. Sheila hung by her tail from a panel in the ceiling. With one hand, she had him by his throat, pinning him against the wall, over the headboard.
“Sheila!” I called out.
Several thoughts crossed my mind:How did she get away from Kryton? Did she kill him? Is she about to kill us?
Daddy’s tentacles gripped on to her as he strained in her choke hold.
Sheila turned to me, growling. “You bonded with him, didn’t you?”
Pure hatred emanated from her as she released him, and he dropped onto the bed, bouncing as he hit the mattress. Not moving.
“Daddy!” I called, wanting to run to him.
My bookbag was by the nightstand, where Daddy had left it. If I could get to it, he had the other syringe he’d made for Sheila.
Before I had a chance to make a run for it, she descended from the ceiling. As her feet reached the mattress, she lunged atme. I grabbed the bathroom door, and as I slammed it shut, I noticed she was holding in her hand Daddy’s arm cuff.
“I figured out how he was preventing me from controlling him,” she said.
Fuck.
As I turned the lock on the door, her tail tore through the wood like it was cardboard. It would have probably been easy for her to seize the doorknob to open it, but it didn’t seem she had much experience with the doors we had on this planet because instead she hacked away at the wood to make space for herself to see me.
“Oh, little, pathetic human. Do you fear I’m going to kill you? Don’t worry. I promiseIwon’t.”
The way she stressed theIsent a jolt of terror through me.
“I won’t hurt him,” Sheila said as she turned back to the bed. “Will I…Daddy, is it? You’ll have to do that for me. Won’t you, Daddy?”
What the hell am I going to do?
I recalled when he told me about Sheila’s grip on him, how she managed to keep him ensnared for so long because of this control she had over him. I heard Daddy shift on the bed, and the thought of him coming in here to kill me was unbearable. But even worse was knowing how he would feel once her hold let up and he realized what he’d done.
One of his tentacles pushed through the hole in the door and turned the knob. When it opened, he stood in the doorway, eyes black as night.
“Daddy?” I asked, hoping some part of him would hear me and come for me.
Pluto rushed in, his eyes just as black as he yapped away at me.
I searched around, trying to think quickly… There had to be something I could use to defend myself. It was three against one,and maybe I was being a little dramatic for including Pluto, but if this wasn’t a time to be dramatic, then I didn’t know when was.
As Daddy reached for me with a tentacle, I dodged, seizing one of the wood chips Sheila had torn off the door. I used it like a knife, spinning and slicing at his oncoming tentacle before backing up to the shower, cornering myself again, just like I did when Sheila came into the café. Although, I didn’t really have any other choice.
“Clever Daddy,” Sheila said behind him. “Thought you could outsmart me. But let’s see how much he fights once he’s killed the man he’s bonded with.”
