As he approached, I called out, “It’s me. It’s Twink!”
This didn’t do me any good. His eyes remained vacant, and I managed to ward off two tentacles before a third seized me by the throat.
I knew I needed to stab him, that it was self-defense, but I couldn’t bring myself to do anything to hurt him. I could never hurt Daddy.
Under Sheila’s control, he didn’t feel the same as he grabbed me by the waist and tossed me from the bathroom into the bedroom. I hit the edge of the bed and bounced off, the force so strong, it sent me back to the wall.
Sheila stood at the foot of the bed, making a chuckling sound.
As I recovered, I realized this was my chance. I rushed for my backpack and rifled through, finding the spare syringe. It wasn’t bravery but sheer determination as I beelined for her. Daddy’s tentacles were right after me, and I dodged them as I went for her.
She stepped back, which shocked me since here she was, towering over me, and it seemed she was scared of me for a change. I anticipated her sharp tail as I drew near, and I hopped into the air so that it dug into the mattress. I held the syringe high, forcing it back down swiftly and powerfully, feeling likea goddamn superhero about to save the day, when something twisted around my wrists, binding them together and yanking back with such force that the syringe went flying from my hands, clattering as it landed on the cement floor. In a moment, my back was against the wall, another tentacle twisted around my throat, constricting.
“Daddy,” I pleaded, gazing into those black, merciless eyes.
It was painful to see him like this. I’d only known a kind, affectionate Daddy, but it was brutal to see the hold Sheila had over him. And now, the very tentacles I trusted, that had been so good to my body, were being used as a weapon against me.
“Go slow,” Sheila said gleefully. “I want to enjoy every moment, and I want you to remember it. This will teach you what happens when you try to leave me.”
His hold around my neck tightened, and despite my efforts, I couldn’t get my wrists free. All I could do was look longingly at the syringe that lay only feet away, useless to me now that my fate was sealed.
There was only one chance left. Daddy had to be in there somewhere. He’d broken free from her hold before. Maybe he could do it again.
“Daddy, it’s me! It’s Twink,” I forced out, trying to pierce past those dark eyes, to the real Daddy. “Please…you’re hurting me.”
It wasn’t just the fact that he was trying to choke the life out of me, but knowing that the last thing I might see was this cold brutality from the Furker I loved. As he cut off my airway, I heard Sheila’s laughter, cracking through the continued fuss of Pluto. Without being able to speak and my vision becoming a series of yellow and gray orbs and boxes as my brain was deprived of oxygen, I remembered what Daddy had told me about the bond between us.
Maybe therewasanother way to reach him.
I thought about those sensations I’d experienced when we were making love tonight, when it felt like we were one, and all my pleasure that he could feel to the depth of his core, that he was reveling in.
I wasn’t sure if it was real or just part of being close to losing consciousness, but I was sure I faintly detected something familiar…and all I could do was beg one last time.
Daddy…help me.

DADDY
Sheila had won.
She’d trapped me in my own mind and now wanted nothing more than to watch me kill the man I’d fallen in love with.
I’d done everything I could to escape her hold over me, raged against a body that no longer obeyed me, trying to remember how I got out the previous times she had a hold over me.
But it was all in vain.
Until something awakened within me. A light, guiding me from the darkness.
Twink.
It was such a small feeling at first, but it grew within me until I felt myself coming back, able to control my tentacles once again. But by the time I relaxed my hold on his throat, he wasn’t moving, though I could sense his quiet pulse, so there was still time.
“Finish him!” Sheila cried out as I lowered him to the floor cautiously. “What are you doing?”
I sensed her moving toward me, my brain sparking off as I tried desperately to come up with a plan. I held my breath to keep from inhaling her scent, which I feared would pull me right back under.
“He’s finished,” I lied.
