“I wouldn’t.”

Both men smiled.

The town wasn’t large at all.It only had the feed store that she was able to get boots from and a few pairs of jeans. She slipped into one and sighed. As much as she loved wearing the guys’ things, it was embarrassing to walk into a store with a pair of the guys’ sweats rolled up several times and pinned, and a flannel shirt. She’d been surprised at how much damage had been done to her shirt and jeans. They’d been shredded, partly from her desperate flight up the mountain and the guys pulling them off as fast as they could to get her warm.

Thankfully, she’d still had her shoes. The store owner was a nice man who let her change into her new clothes and boots to go shopping at other places.

“It was nice meeting you, ma'am.”

“You, too, Charlie,” she said and waved.

At the corner, Malik stopped them.“I’ve got a few things to do.Aiden is going to take you to the women’s shop, and then we’ll meet at the diner. Is that okay?”

Camila fought back the fear that tried to overwhelm her.She nodded and tried to smile.

He pressed a kiss to her lips.“I’ll see you soon.Stop worrying.”

Aiden curled an arm around her waist.“Let’s go.”

Aiden steered her into the only women’s shop within thirty miles. She was surprised to see it had a lot of fashionable things.

Aiden stood off to the side as she went through the racks and talked to the store owner. She was a sweet older woman who lived in the town her whole life and wouldn’t have had it any other way.Camila found her charming and could have talked to her for hours if she weren’t so afraid to be seen in town.

Camila walked up to the front.

“That’s not enough, baby.”

She glanced down. She’d only grabbed a comfortable dress, a few shirts, underwear, and socks.

“I don’t need or want anything else.I’ve got plenty. We can always come back another day.”

“I’d like it if you’d come back.I enjoyed talking to you,” the old woman said.

“I did, too,” Camila said and smiled.

After he paid, they were strolling down the sidewalk toward the café a few minutes later.

“Why are we going here?”she asked.

“Because it’s lunchtime, and they have the best burgers.”

As much as she wanted to say she needed to go home, she held back. She’d let them enjoy the food but keep an eye out for Edward or his men. They were bound to stand out in a town like this.

Camila caught sight of Malik walking with another large man down the sidewalk on the other side. The man was in jeans and a button-down shirt, and it looked like they’d known each other for a while. They stopped and shook hands before Malik walked across the street and into the café.

“Everything okay?”Aiden asked him once he sat down.

She could feel the tension in both men and wondered what was going on.

“Everything’s good.Derek gave me what I needed.”

Aiden nodded.

“Is there anything wrong?”she asked.

Malik held onto her hand on the table.“No, everything's good, baby.”

A waitress stopped by their table.“What will you folks have?”
