I stood near the evidence wall with my arms folded and my eyes fixed on the photographs beneath the light.

Hammer.

Shark.

Viking.

Tex.

Ridge.

Bishop.

Six men who should still be alive.

Six men who died on a mountain because someone with power decided Shadow Division had seen too much.

The anger had never left me.

It had simply changed.

Grief burned hot. It made a man reckless.

This was colder.

Patient.

Controlled.

Useful.

Across the room, Sarah’s father studied Wade’s interview photograph. He hadn’t moved in nearly twenty minutes.

That bothered me.

Men like him didn’t go quiet unless they were thinking hard enough to scare everyone around them.

Sarah stood a few feet away, watching him.

“Dad?”

His eyes moved from Wade’s face to the photographs of my fallen men. Something shifted in his expression.

Recognition.

My pulse slowed.
