His gaze moved over every man in the warehouse before returning to the memorial table.

“They weren’t after your team.”

Sniper frowned. “What?”

Sarah’s father stepped closer to the photographs.

“They weren’t after Hammer or Shark. They weren’t after Tex, Viking, Ridge, or Bishop.”

His voice roughened as he looked at the six faces.

“They were after what your team was about to find.”

The storm struck the warehouse windows with enough force to rattle the glass.

No one moved.

“What did we find?” I asked.

The old SEAL gave a humorless laugh.

“No. That’s the wrong question.”

His eyes hardened.

“What were you about to find?”

Fathom was already moving.

He dropped into his chair and pulled up our original mission package. Files filled the largest monitor in the warehouse.

Maps.

Coordinates.

Flight plans.

Satellite imagery.

Weather reports.

The mountain.

The operation.

The ambush.

The beginning of everything.

For several minutes, no one spoke.

We searched every line. Every grid coordinate. Every order Marcus Lane had passed down to us before sending us into hell.

I remembered the briefing.

A missing asset.

A compromised extraction.
