“No!”

Wade started laughing.

Sarah joined him.

Then Jack.

The laughter spread through the warehouse.

Even I gave in.

For the first time, the memorial table didn’t feel like an ending.

The dead were still with us.

But so were the living.

And Shadow Division had finally remembered how to be both.

The harbor was quiet.

Moonlight stretched across the dark water.

Waves struck the pilings beneath Cutter’s dock, and somewhere in the warehouse, Cobra continued explaining why he could repair a forklift using parts from a boat engine.

Sam’s answer carried through the wall.

“No!”

I smiled.

Some things were apparently too dangerous even for Shadow Division.

Wade was asleep at the private medical facility.

Dad remained beside him.

Hale had come through surgery.

Grant, Dawson, and Jackson were recovering.

Madow and Reeves were secured.

For the first time in five years, everyone I loved was accounted for.

I stood at the railing and breathed in the cold Alaskan air.

The warehouse door opened behind me.

I didn’t need to turn.

I knew his footsteps now.
