The mountain.
The trap.
Rook knew five of the names personally.
Rear Admiral Grayson had approved the mission.
General Sheffield had participated in the final briefing.
Commander Rhodes had delivered the last intelligence update.
Walter Graves had coordinated the operation between the military and the intelligence agencies.
Mac Stenson had compiled part of the original target package.
Senator Vance and Director Madow hadn’t attended the briefing, but their positions gave them access to the completed file.
Any one of them could have betrayed the team.
Or all seven could be involved.
“Start with the senator,” Sniper said.
Rook looked at him. “Why Vance?”
“I don’t like politicians.”
“That isn’t evidence.”
“It should be.”
Fathom opened Vance’s financial disclosures.
Private investments appeared on a second screen.
Offshore holdings filled the third.
Sniper moved closer.
“That’s a lot of money for a public servant.”
“Most of it is legal,” Fathom said.
“Most?”
“I found three shell companies connected to an international shipping corporation.”
“What do they transport?” Rook asked.
“According to the company records, medical supplies, agricultural equipment, and industrial machinery.”
“And according to the real manifests?”
Fathom opened another file.
Military-grade communication equipment.
Drone components.
