I loved walking into the apartment after work to find him cooking dinner. He’d become quite the recipe follower over the last few months we’d been living together in LA, even getting on to Pinterest to explore new meal ideas.

“Mm, smells good. You’re home early.”

He flashed me a smile. “Class ended early today.”

Aiden had started a training program for contractors preparing to go overseas. He took them through what to expect and trained them to shoot, fight, and assess threatening situations. It was clear he enjoyed his job from the way he looked forward to going into work every day. He was even training for a marathon.

With every goal he set and met, I could see his self-confidence grow. He’d also started attending a veterans’ support group. This had gained him a couple of friends to drag to the gym on a daily basis. I know he inspired these men with his positive attitude.

Seeing Aiden happy made me a happy girl.

Once he turned around, I threw my arms around his neck. He didn’t hesitate to take my lips in a searing kiss. I loved our welcome-home kisses. I loved our morning kisses, too. And the good-night kisses while cuddled up to him in bed. Yep. I was a fan of all the kisses.

Glancing at the stove, I was pleasantly surprised to see my favorite dish. “Chicken parm. What’s the occasion?”

“You mean you don’t know what today is?” He trailed his lips down my neck.

“Hm, Thursday, which is my fourth favorite day since it leads to the weekend which I get to spend with you.” Between my classes, part-time job at the ad agency where I was learning all about graphic design, and his full-time job, we definitely looked forward to having time together.

He chuckled. “It’s my fourth favorite day, too. But it’s also a holiday.”

Crap. Was it? It was past the American Thanksgiving, which we’d spent with Kendall, Liam, and their baby, Charlie. And it was a month away from Christmas, when we planned to make the trip to Toronto to spend the holiday with my family before going to see his. After that, because we knew we’d need it after so much family time, we were vacationing in the Caribbean.

“Is it an American holiday I’m unaware of?”

He grinned in that devastating way that made my toes curl. “I’d say it’s an international holiday. You want to guess?”

“No. I don’t have a clue.”

“It’s international Call Your Boss a Pussy Day.”

I burst out laughing. “Is it now?”

“You should know since you created the holiday one year ago today with the best mistype in the history of mistypes. And since calling Tom a pussy was the reason I met you, I thought we should celebrate.” His hands came up to capture my face, his vivid eyes focused on mine.

“That was the best ending to the worst day ever.”

He grinned. “You know, there are plenty of other holidays coming up. Like international Wear Only a Towel Day, BLT Day, the anniversary of our first date, which accidentally included Reid, and of course tomorrow. Tomorrow is a big anniversary.”

Huh? What the heck was tomorrow? I wracked my brain back to the first day I’d worked for him but didn’t have a clue. “What’s tomorrow?”

“You can’t think of anything?”

“Was it one of my slipups?” With his ability to remember the smallest of details, I was sure he could recall every single, embarrassing one that I’d made.

“No, although I like the ring of “Offer to Service Your Boss Day”. Or the day the receptionist—”

“No. Don’t say it.”

He quirked a brow. “—got eaten out.”

I buried my flush face in my hands. “You said it.”

His entire body shook with laughter. “It’s a personal favorite of mine.”

“Could I help it if I found my boss so hot it made me jumble my words?”

His hands came down to grab my ass. “Tsk, tsk, Ms. Mattson. Lusting after your boss is very naughty.”
