His heart surging into his throat, Jesse cupped the back of Trevor’s neck and pulled him into a gentle kiss. “I can’t wait.”

Trevor put his head down on Jesse’s shoulder as Jesse hugged him close.

That’s right. I’m here now.

Chapter Twenty-Five

“Holy shit, Jess.” Trevor rolled off of him with a grunt, the aftershocks making his body shake. “It’s getting better every time.”

Jesse gave a low, sensual laugh. “They say younger guys have more stamina, but fuck if I’m having a hard time keeping up with you,” he teased breathlessly.

Putting his head on Jesse’s shoulder with a contented sigh, Trevor pulled the sheet up over them and threw his leg over both of Jesse’s. He traced a fingertip idly around Jesse’s nipple. “Speaking of that, never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined myself getting involved with a man half my age.”

Jesse pinched his ass hard, making Trevor squeak. “Fourteen years isn’t ‘half your age,’ knucklehead,” he rejoined. “I thought you were a math whiz.” He rubbed his palm soothingly over the abused cheek. “You’re perfect. Perfect for me, anyway.”

Trevor couldn’t help but give a rueful snort. “You say that now, but wait a few years until I need Viagra or something. What will you think then?” He held his breath waiting for Jesse’s reply, which wasn’t long in coming.

“What will I think? That we’ll get you some goddamned Viagra,” he growled. “Are you one of those guys who only thinks about dicks?”

“Well, your dick is so much fun.”

Jesse gasped in outrage, and Trevor went on, “So is your ass, and your chest, and your mouth...” He lifted his head for a soft kiss. “And your strength, and your mind. Your heart.” He heaved a theatrical sigh. “Yeah, pretty much all of you.”

They grinned at each other, and just then Jesse’s phone buzzed from the nightstand. He groped for it, squinting at the incoming text. “Shit.”

“What is it?”

Jesse threw the sheet aside and got to his feet. “Karen’s mom had a stroke,” he called over his shoulder as he disappeared into the bathroom. “She needs me to cover at work for her.”

The shower came on and Trevor hurried to the kitchen to make him some coffee and breakfast, grimacing at the mess still left from the night before. By the time Jesse appeared, Trevor had a travel mug of coffee ready for him, along with a fried egg sandwich that he could eat on the way.

“Thanks.” Jesse grabbed up his keys from the counter, leaning in for a distracted goodbye kiss before heading for the front door. “Call you later.”

When he was gone, Trevor poured himself a cup of coffee and set to work cleaning the kitchen and patio, continuing the momentum into some mowing, raking and hedge trimming. The activity and the warm sun were therapeutic, and at last Trevor leaned on his rake and blew out a satisfied breath, stripping his T-shirt off to wipe his sweaty face with it.

As he headed to his shed to put away the lawn tools, he noticed with a start that a man was standing on the patio with his arms crossed over his chest. Trevor squinted.

“Carl?”

Carl raised his hand in greeting, and Trevor changed course toward him. As he drew closer, he saw Carl had a key dangling from his fingers.

“I, uh, let myself in when you didn’t answer the door, sorry. I hope you don’t mind.”

“I don’t mind, Carl, but what’re you doing here?” Trevor opened the mini-fridge behind the outdoor bar and pulled out a bottle of water, offering Carl one.

He declined. “I’d love a cup of coffee, though,” he said hopefully, and Trevor waved him into the house.

“I’ll make a fresh pot.”

As it brewed, Carl perched on a stool at the island. “The reason I’m here, I haven’t been able to find a box of my books and I wondered if you’d seen it? I tried to call first,” he added hastily, “but you didn’t answer.”

“I haven’t checked my phone all morning.” He poured Carl a mug of coffee and handed him the carton of half-and-half. “And yeah, I just cleaned out the garage and I did find it.”

Slumping in relief, Carl blew out a breath. “Oh, thank goodness. Some of those books are part of a series and it was driving me crazy not knowing where they are.”

“I was actually going to call you about them today, so this works out.”

“Great.” Carl hesitated, giving him a tentative smile. “You look good, Trev. Really good.”
