“Hell, no. But I’m definitely wearing boxers to bed. Especially if you get hot and get all naked on me again.”
Sascha laughed.
“Seriously, you thought Damon was the one for you. How do I compare? Do you feel the same way about me?”
“No way. The two of you are totally different. But I do feel this compelling need to make love to you. It’s really bone-deep, and it makes me wonder if it’s just something wacky inside me. What if I just meet other guys like that and feel the same way?”
“Is there anyone in your family who would know?”
“I think Aunt Meg would, but she wouldn’t tell Kat when she found her soulmate. She had to learn it for herself. But I think Kat made love to Prescott before she knew for sure. She was willing to give up her abilities to be with him. She didn’t know what it would really be like if she lost them though. Not like I found out.”
Gregory took hold of Sascha’s hand and kissed it. “We could be intimate with each other without going all the way.”
“I would want to go all the way.”
“But we could hold off. Maybe until we could learn the truth.” He wanted to make love to Sascha in the worst way, but he was willing to do anything to make this work between them so she wouldn’t lose her abilities, and they could still enjoy each other to the fullest.
“Okay, after dinner then. Do you want to get out and look through some more of your emails? I could check mine.”
“You want to see what you can learn about the guy whose mother believed he was my parents’ baby and was switched at birth.”
Sascha’s jaw dropped. “How do you know that?”
“You…I don’t know. I guess you didn’t mention it. I was just thinking that you were thinking about that.”
“What am I thinking now?”
He smiled. “I’m guessing here, but we could take a shower together, wash off the chlorine, and get dressed. Well, maybe take a nap first before we get on the computer. I have a main one and a laptop. We can both do searches.”
“What am I thinking now?”
He kissed the top of her head, and she rubbed her body against his. “That’s easy. That we get intimate, but not all the way.” Then he frowned. “You want a hot fudge sundae?”
She laughed. “Yes! We’re linked.”
“What?”
“It’s been happening on and off. I think I’m still trying to get some of my abilities back after the ‘crash.’ But you know what I’m thinking.”
“About the hot fudge sundae?”
“About the search on the computer too, showering, getting intimate, taking a nap, all of it.”
“I just guessed that—”
“No, you read my mind.”
“Can I read others’ minds? That’s a cool gift to have.”
“Only mine. We’re linked like Prescott and Kat are. I can talk telepathically to my cousins, aunt, and uncle. I don’t know if you can or not. Prescott can only read Kat’s mind, and you can only read mine.”
“Wow.”
“Yeah, it’s pretty cool. Let’s get out of the pool.”
He lifted her onto the patio, then climbed out after her. Then they grabbed towels, dried off, and headed into the house.
“Your phones have been ringing. I would have gotten them for you, but I didn’t want to disturb you,” Maria said.
