“It’s beautiful.” My heart pounds as he walks us around so he can open the door for me. The
interior is leather and plush and I’m flattered he considers this a special occasion, but part of me
can’t help but feel inadequate.
Leaning over, he drapes an arm around my shoulder and casts me a warm smile. “So, I’m glad you
like my car. What kind of car do you drive?”
I debate if I should tell him, but knowing Master Aiden, he’ll just pester me until I answer. “I
don’t own a car. But it’s not from a lack of funds or an inability to get a license; it’s just so much
easier to get around on the metro or Uber,” I babble, hoping he won’t think less of me. “It’s simple,
easy, and honestly, much cheaper than owning and maintaining a car.”
When he frowns again, my heart drops. “How do you get to and from Black Light then? I don’t
feel comfortable with the idea of you using the metro that late at night. Especially not after you’ve
been sceneing.” His voice is gruff and protective, and for a moment, my body quivers in response.
“Yeah. I usually call an Uber for those nights. However, I made the mistake of telling Spencer that
I used the metro before that. And, well, you know him and Klara.”
“That I do.” He chuckles.
“Yeah, they insisted on me either getting an Uber or letting one of them take me. I don’t think I can
remember another time when Spencer was so mad at me.”
Master Aiden grips the steering wheel so hard that his knuckles go white. “He didn’t punish you,
did he?”
A soft chuckle escapes my lips. “He didn’t, but why would it matter if he did? It’s not like we
were an item back then.”
“It matters.”
I roll my eyes. “You’re just being all caveman because I’m your shiny new toy and you want me
all to yourself.”
“Shiny, yes,” he amends, his hands loosening. “But you’re only my toy if you give me that right.”
Again, he steals my breath away with just a few, well-placed words.
“Shall I put the top down? It’s a pleasant night tonight.” A smile dances at the corner of his lips,
as if he’s teasing me again. A man like him should know better than to offer to put the top down before
a date. If he’s not willing to kiss me for fear of my makeup, then putting the top down should definitely
be off the table.
