Still, I turned slightly to the side, studying myself from another angle before placing my hand against my stomach.

A baby was really in there. My baby. And as excited as that made me, I couldn’t stop all the other shit running through my head.

“Sianni! We gon’ miss the damn appointment!”

Kyrie’s voice booming from downstairs snapped me out of my thoughts.

“Kyrie, it’s 9:15!”

“And?”

“The appointment is at ten!”

“Exactly.”

I stared toward the bedroom door. What the hell did that even mean?

Shaking my head, I took one last look in the mirror before grabbing my things and heading downstairs.

Kyrie was sitting on the couch with the phone in his hand, but the second he saw me coming down the stairs, he stood.

“Finally.”

I frowned. “Boy, shut up. We got forty-five minutes.”

“And I like being early.”

“Since when?”

“Since my baby got appointments.”

I rolled my eyes as he grabbed his keys.

We headed outside, and once we were in the car, Kyrie pulled out of the driveway and started toward the doctor’s office.

I spent most of the ride staring out the passenger window, watching buildings and cars pass by while my fingers picked at the edge of my shirt.

“What’s wrong with you?”

I glanced over. “Nothing.”

Kyrie cut his eyes toward me before looking back at the road.

“Sianni.”

“I’m fine.”

“I ain’t ask if you was fine. I asked what’s wrong with you.”

I let out a breath and leaned my head against the seat.

“I’m nervous.”

“For what?” His hand left the steering wheel long enough to reach over and squeeze my thigh. “You got me.”

Despite everything going through my head, a small smile tugged at my lips.

“Kyrie, you can’t fix everything.”
