Her brows lifted. “They still married, ain’t they?”

That shut me up for half a second. Apparently, that was all Marissa needed.

“Exactly.”

“Girl, whatever.”

“Nawl, not whatever.” She shifted on the couch and looked at me. “Look, I ain’t finna sit here and act brand new like I wasn’t in on this shit with you. I was.”

“Okay then.”

“And I wanted Kyrie too. Bad as hell, if we being real.”

I looked at her. “So, what changed?”

“Nothing changed. I just know when to call some shit for what it is.”

“And what the fuck is it?”

“That nigga don’t want me.”

I rolled my eyes. “You don’t know that.”

“Yes, the fuck I do.” She pointed toward my phone. “Look at the shit right in front of you. All them pictures hit the blogs. Everybody started questioning their marriage, calling it fake and all that other shit. And where Kyrie at?”

I didn’t answer.

“Exactly. Still somewhere up under Sianni.”

I sucked my teeth. “So?”

“So, I’m not about to keep wasting my damn time trying to get a nigga who clearly ain’t checking for me.”

“So, you just giving up?”

“On Kyrie?” She shrugged. “Hell yeah.”

I laughed. “Just like that?”

“What you want me to do, Alexia? Chase behind a married nigga until he magically wakes up one morning and decides he wants me?”

“I don’t give a fuck what you do.”

“I know you don’t.” She paused. “Because this ain’t about Kyrie for you anyway.”

“I never said it was.”

“Exactly.” Marissa nodded toward my phone. “Your problem is with Sianni. Mine ain’t.”

I stared at her.

“I wanted her husband,” she continued. “I thought if all that shit blew up their little marriage, maybe it would give me an opening. Clearly, it didn’t. So, I’m done.”

“Good for you.”

“I’m serious. Whatever shit you got going on with Sianni, that’s between you and that bitch from here on out.”

“Wasn’t nobody asking you to stay involved.”
