Her face tightened.
“And the fucked-up part is, I really loved your ass.”
My throat tightened, but I swallowed that shit right back down.
“You were my fucking friend, Alexia. I trusted you. Had your back. And the whole time, you were sitting around, secretly competing with me over shit I didn’t even know was a fucking competition.”
For the first time since we’d gotten there, she didn't have some slick-ass response ready.
But it didn't last long.
“Maybe if you paid attention to something besides yourself, you would've noticed.”
I blinked, then laughed.
“See, there you go.”
“What?”
“Still trying to make the fucked-up shit you did somehow my fault.”
“I ain’t say it was your fault.”
“You basically did.”
Alexia stepped closer. “I said you ain't as fucking innocent as you act.”
“And I said I never claimed to be!”
Her eyes narrowed.
“Whatever.”
She turned slightly, like she was done with the conversation, and that pissed me off more than anything.
“Nawl. Don't ‘whatever’ me now.”
I reached out and caught her arm before she could walk away, and Alexia immediately snatched it free.
“Don’t fucking touch me.”
“Then stop walking away while I'm talking to you.”
“Bitch, I don’t have to stand here and listen to shit.”
“And I didn't have to spend years being friends with a snake-ass bitch who was fucking my man, either, but here the fuck we are.”
Alexia stepped into my space.
“Say that shit again.”
Drayla moved immediately.
“Alexia, back the fuck up.”
Alexia glanced at her. “Bitch, stay out of this.”
“I been out of it. But you get too close to her again, and I'm getting in it.”
