Normally, I wouldn’t give two fucks what strangers thought about my marriage. They could call it fake, real, arranged, or whatever the fuck else helped them sleep at night. I knew who I went home to.
But this shit wasn’t only about me anymore. Sianni was getting dragged into it too.
“Aight,” I finally said. “I’ma talk to my wife and see how she feels about it.”
“I think that’s a good idea.”
“Yeah, well, it ain’t just affecting me. It’s affecting her too, so I’m not agreeing to shit without talking to her first.”
Especially with her carrying my baby. I wasn’t about to volunteer her for no photoshoot or interview without knowing if she was comfortable with it. If Sianni said no, then that was the end of that shit as far as I was concerned.
“Okay, but Kyrie, don’t take too long. This is an important matter.”
I frowned.
“Aight, bruh. And don’t fucking rush me either.”
“Kyrie, I’m not—”
I hung up in his face. The fuck? I stared at the phone for a minute before shaking my head. He was always rushing a muthafucka. Still, the idea wasn’t bad.
I unlocked my phone and pulled up Sianni’s contact. At the end of the day, this was our marriage they were putting under a microscope, not Thomas’s. If my wife was down to do the interview, cool. We’d do that shit, look good as fuck doing it, and shut a few muthafuckas up in the process.
But if she said no? Thomas was just gonna have to figure some other shit out.
I hit the FaceTime button and waited for Sianni to answer. It rang a few times before her pretty face finally popped up on the screen.
“Hey, Big Daddy. You miss me already?” she asked, that little smart-ass smirk already sitting on her face.
“Something like that, beautiful.” I laughed.
“Damn, you ain’t even been gone twenty-four hours.”
“And?” I lifted a brow. “The fuck that got to do with me missing my wife?”
Her smile widened, and I shook my head. I swear this woman knew exactly what she was doing to me.
“But I do need to talk to you about something,” I added, letting out a sigh.
Her smile disappeared almost immediately.
“Okay… is everything alright?”
“Yeah, ma, everything is good.” I chuckled. “Why you always gotta assume something is wrong?”
“Because of that sigh, Kyrie. That told me everything I needed to know.”
“Damn, ma.” I shook my head, laughing. “You ain’t got no confidence in me?”
“I didn’t say I didn’t.” She gave me a look through the screen. “But you be on one.”
“You right.” A grin pulled at my lips. “Especially when it comes to your fine ass.”
“Whatever, Kyrie.” She rolled her eyes, but the smile creeping across her face gave her away. “What’s up?”
“I just got off the phone with my agent.”
“Okay…” She shifted around before getting comfortable. “What he talking about now?”
