“What did you just say, Little Fairy?” Daddy asked as his hands stilled on her hips.

“I said ‘fuck unspoken rules.’ It’s an unspoken rule that you shouldn’t date your stepsibling, but here we are, dating each other. So, if we go off Levi in Reaper’s reasoning, Levi should be able to date this girl,” Raelynn said again.

She didn’t see the problem with what she’d said. It was the truth for her and Daddy, but also for Levi and the girl he wanted to be with.

“It’s more complicated than that,” Daddy replied.

“How? He wants to be with her, and she wants to be with him. I think, if anything, her brother should be happy that it’s his best friend and not some random person he has to vet,” she pointed out.

“He might feel betrayed that his best friend broke the bro code,” Levi said. “I don’t want to lose our friendship.”

“But you’re okay losing the love of your life? You’re okay watching her from the sidelines and knowing that she likes you, too. You’re okay watching your heart get broken if she moves on? You’re okay that you might not find somebody for the rest of your life?” She asked.

“Way to lay it on thick, Raelynn.” Reaper chuckled.

“I just want him to think about it. It’s the same thing I had to think about whenever Butch and I weren’t together,” she said. “As the years went on, and I was still stuck in that house, I had to come to terms with the fact I was never going to be let go. I had to come to terms with the fact that Daddy might move on and live his life with somebody else. I had to come to terms with the fact there was nothing I could do. I had to be okay with it. Or I could have thought to get out and try to do something about it.”

“There is no one but you,” Daddy said.

“And there’s no one but you. I just don’t want Levi to regret anything.” She looked over at him. “I know you’re worried about your friendship with him, but maybe think about whether he would be mad. Don’t let time go by and regret it. Think about it now so that you’re prepared for anything.”

Levi nodded.

“So, when are you coming back to the clubhouse?” Reaper asked. “We all miss you guys. We want you back. Deccan has things to talk to you about, Butch.”

“He didn’t tell me about that this morning,” Daddy said.

“He knew I was going to come see you and wanted me to relay the message. It’s important. It’s about him,” Reaper cryptically said.

About him? Did he mean about Deccan himself, or about somebody else? Rae figured it was somebody else since Reaper emphasized him as if he wanted Daddy to know it was a certain person.

“We can stop by tomorrow,” Daddy said.

“Both of you? If you don’t want her to come, someone can come over to watch her,” Levi suggested.

Raelynn’s grip tightened on Daddy’s shirt. She knew she had nothing to be afraid of since Daddy always took care of her and made sure that she was safe, but the thought of him being at the clubhouse and somebody else watching her, just didn’t sit well her.

“No, Rae will be coming with me. I know she won’t be able to sit in when I talk with Deccan, but I don’t want her in a different location than me. She will wait in a room where she won’t feel too overwhelmed while I talk to Deccan. Somebody will stay with her as well,” Daddy said. “I know the clubhouse is safe, but until we know where this guy is and who he is, I don’t want her alone.”

“Understood,” Reaper said. “I’ll make sure there is a room for her to relax in while you two talk.”

“My room,” Daddy said.

“Not your room,” she replied.

Everyone turned to look at her, and she shrank into Daddy. Okay, she wasn’t expecting all their eyes on her at once. Their intense stares bore into her skin like they could see through her.

“You can’t see through me!” she yelled. “That would be creepy, and you would see things that you probably wouldn’t want to see.”

Levi and Reaper blinked several times as they stared at her.

“Wh-what?” Daddy asked.

“Nothing,” she mumbled. “Forget I said anything.”

Oh how embarrassing to have said that out loud, but it was exactly what she felt.
