A vibration tickled her, and she glanced between them as she hiccupped, wondering if Brass had begun to purr. Then it spread to her back, and she realized Tate and Arlo were purring for her.

All the tension flooded out of Wendy, and she snuggled up between the alphas.

Her alphas.

Chapter 49

WENDY

With nerves like lead in her stomach, Wendy sat on Nic’s couch amongst the pillows she’d added and waited for the beta and alpha duo to return. They’d spent the night together, but the two of them had to leave early to go check on something with the gym.

It worked out, because it gave her plenty of time to set up all the packages she’d been receiving. But now her nerves were beginning to vibrate.

Where the fuck are they?

To distract herself, she leaned forward and adjusted one of the tissue wrapped prints Tate had helped her order.

She was nervous. What if Nic thought it was silly?

A little meow squeaked at her, and she leaned down to find Brass staring up at her.

“You won’t think it’s silly, will you?” she asked the oblivious kitten as she picked her up. Knuckles trotted around the couch and jumped up beside her, leaning up to sniff at the baby before he began aggressively licking her head.

The old tough man had surprisingly taken well to the kitten.

“Is this your baby?” she asked in a cooing voice.

The cats didn’t answer her of course, but she took the aggressive bath time as answer enough. Brass got distracted by the strings on her hoodie, and she watched her adorableness in awe for a moment as the kitten played. How was she so cute?

A sound caught her attention, and she jerked up to snap her head toward the door. Keys jingled before the knob twisted, and Wendy placed the kitten on the couch cushion, leaving her to Daddy Knuckles as the door opened.

“We’re home—oh.” Nic cut off his announcement. “You can already see that.”

As Griffith followed him in, the alpha rolled his eyes affectionately in her direction before closing the door after the beta.

“Watcha got there?” Nic asked as he drifted closer, dipping his head in the direction of the tissue wrapped surprises on the coffee table.

Okay. Right into it. I can do this.

Wendy cleared her throat. “I’ve been working on something,” she announced.

Grif braced his hands on the back of the couch and arched a brow. “You? Working?”

Her glare didn’t even faze him.

“It’s a surprise for the both of you, if you’re nice.”

Nic smacked Grif on the arm and walked around the couch, picking up Brass before sitting down. Knuckles was absolutely offended at the beta’s presence, and jumped down with a thump before trotting into the kitchen in hunt of food.

“I do like surprises,” Nic said.

“I do too,” Grif mumbled, rounding the couch to join Nic.

Wendy stood before them, trapped between their knees and the coffee table holding her secrets.

“So I’ve been sketching a lot more,” she began. “And I turned it into something for the new gym.”

Nic swallowed, staring up at her, and her cheeks heated. “You don’t have to use it if you don’t like it, and it’s a little silly, and—”
