I shook my head. “Nope, I scheduled this time off. There is nothing that needs my attention, and Cal is in the office if anything urgent comes up. So, go shower, and we can head to dinner.”
She set her cleaning supplies aside. “Are you sure?”
I nodded. “Very.”
She smiled, and I watched eagerness form in her eyes. “Okay, give me like twenty minutes to get ready.”
I watched her walk up the stairs, unable not to stare at her ass. My wolf growled with need, and I couldn’t help but smile knowing she was all mine at the end of the day.
Aubrey came back down wearing a towel tightly wrapped around her middle. Her hair was wet, and she smelled amazing.
“So, before I get dressed. Where are we going exactly? You didn’t say.”
I took in her long legs and the way her skin had a nice tan now. I smirked, wanting to walk across the space and just take the towel right off her. “Just put on something comfortable. Jeans and a shirt. Skirt and a blouse. Whatever you want.”
She scowled. “That doesn’t help me pick out an outfit, Klaus.”
I moved closer to her. “Just throw on a nice shirt and some jeans.”
She moved her hand, adjusting the towel. I stared at it, unable to stop my hand from reaching out and grabbing it. She smirked. “Are you going to come help me get dressed?”
I clicked my tongue. “No, because you won’t end up dressed.”
She wiggled her eyebrows at me. “Is that a bad thing?”
I nodded. “Yes, because having you is planned for the end of the evening. Not the beginning. If I go upstairs with you right now, Aubrey, we won’t be coming back down.”
Her hand reached up, her finger running along my lip. “Why the sudden need to take me out?”
“Because I never have. Because we became husband and wife and never went on a proper date.” I stared into her eyes. “I want us to do things properly. I want you to have it all.”
She smiled. “I do have it all.”
I nodded. “You do and will. Now, go get dressed.” I slapped her ass before taking a step back, trying to restrain myself.
She came back down wearing jeans and an orange tank top. She had pulled her hair back up into a messy bun and stopped at the stairs. “Is this good enough?”
“That’s perfect.”
She came down the stairs. “Now will you tell me where we are going?”
“No, it’s a surprise.”
We headed out of the house, and I drove toward the edge of the pack where there was a long walking path. As I parked, Aubrey looked at me, confused. “What are we doing here?”
“We are having a picnic date.”
Her eyebrows went up. “We are? That’s so sweet.”
I nodded. “I thought it would be nice for us to just get away and have some alone time in the woods. Unless you want to go somewhere else.”
She shook her head. “No, this is so sweet, Klaus. I love this idea. No one has ever done this for me.” She leaned over, giving me a quick kiss before she shoved her door open and hopped out.
I got out after her and opened the trunk. Inside were the picnic basket and the blanket. I grabbed them, and I watched as Aubrey jumped on her heels.
“So, where to?”
“There is a stream a few yards up. If we follow it, we can find a quiet spot on the edge of the bank. The walking path goes for miles.”
