“I must say I had my doubts about you,” he admitted with a gentle smile. “You have done splendidly, though. I appreciate it.” Hearing praise from his lips made me wonder about him.
Had he only been mean at first because he had to protect his financial well-being? Or was he trying to get some sort of reaction out of me? The more I thought about it, the more I realized that I needed to watch my step around him. For all I knew, he wanted me to open up to him and offer myself to him, but I refused to allow that to happen. I was saving myself for someone who would marry me one day, not some man who could decide to throw me out at any moment. As attractive as I found him, with his salt and pepper hair and rippling muscles, I was not some innocent school girl who would fall head over heels for the first person who showed an interest in her. It would take more than some light interest to win me over.
“I’m glad you approve,” I replied, my voice calm and sweet. A strange look came over his expression, and I couldn’t help the wetness that grew between my legs.
“It makes me wonder exactly what else you’re capable of,” he began as he sauntered towards me. “What other secret skills do you have? What are your hidden talents? Are you capable of more than just directing people?” By then, he was towering over me, and I felt my stomach start to flip flop inside, the butterflies attempted to leave me fluttering into his grasp.
“It depends on what you have in mind,” I said, ignoring the bulge that seemed to be only inches from my face. “I’m pretty good at housework, too. I can keep your office absolutely spotless, and I can always cook dinner for the others.”
He shook his head and stared at me, a cold, dark, hungry look in his eyes as he watched me.
“I don’t know if that’s entirely necessary, Little One,” he told me as he drew closer, his powerful hips hovering before me with the bulge only an inch away from my nose. “Tell me how you feel.”
I was confused despite the arousal I felt, and I shook my head, doing everything I could to distract myself from the lump before me.
“I feel—” I began, but I couldn’t finish the thought. It felt as though my entire body was on fire and being eaten alive by worms at the same time. I squirmed in my chair as I watched him. “I feel—”
He raised an eyebrow at me as he took my tiny hand in his, pulling me to my feet.
“Yes?” he asked expectantly. As much as I wanted to give in to the magic spell he had put me under, I shook my head and tore my gaze away from his, hoping I would be able to think a bit more clearly.
“I have work to do,” I reminded him, “and you have a meeting in half an hour.” He groaned before cupping my chin in his massive hand, and guiding my gaze back towards his.
“Fuck the meeting, and fuck your work,” he demanded. “I could help you repay your debt a little faster, you know. If you would allow me, I would take off another hundred every time you allowed me to have you. All I would require of you is to be loyal to me and only me.”
His thick, heavy cock was poking at my belly, and, for the briefest moment, I wondered what it would be like to allow him to bend me over his desk and occupy my body, taking me and making me his as his hot seed dripped between my legs.
“It’s tempting,” I admitted, my husky voice barely able to manage a whisper. Clearing my throat, I continued. “I would need some time to think about it.”
He paused, his hot breath grazing the gooseflesh on my neck.
“Is that so?” he asked, and I struggled to keep my breath steady and even. After seeing my response, he continued. “Very well, I’ll allow it. However, I want you to know I’m not always a patient man. What Daddy wants, Daddy gets.”
With that, he released me, and I took a few steps, eager to get away from the heat of his body. Before I could say a word, he left the room and headed towards the break room, leaving me quivering where I stood after our encounter. All I could do was ask myself what was wrong with me. Was I mad? Or did I just have a death wish?
I sat there in my chair, trembling as I tried to get past the close encounter I had just had. Chase had money, power, and men who supported him. If I didn't do things his way, I knew that he could just as easily make me disappear without a second thought. It had happened on occasion, and I was determined not to let it happen to me.
So, as I made my way back to my apartment, I already promised myself two things: I was going to pay Joyce's debt as best I could and as fast as possible, and I wasn't going to get involved with Chase. There was too much at stake.
CHAPTER FOUR
Chase
Our brief exchange in the office, far from the wary eyes of onlookers, had answered the one question that had been bothering me ever since I first met Lydia. She was attracted to me. The revelation had played into my ego just a smidge, and I was finally able to think about myself with a bit more pride than I normally did. Lydia had been dodging the advances of the other men at the compound all week, while attempting to keep her attention on her work. Meanwhile, I had been craving her attention more and more by the day.
She was a kind, sweet person who was the exact opposite of her sister. The more I got to know her, the harder it was to believe that the two of them were related. Joyce had been demanding and a huge tease, but Lydia kept her head down and simply focused on her work. It just took a small adjustment period to get her to go from the quiet little mouse on the verge of tears to a kind girl who genuinely seemed to enjoy her work. The way she was slowly yet surely adapting to her new location was even more enticing than her modest outfits and gentle nature. I couldn't help it, and I saw that she was slowly giving way, and opening up to the idea of being mine.
The next few days, she stuck to her work, but, every time I entered the room, a blush would creep into her cheeks, and she would become visibly flustered. To me, it was a clear sign that I had truly gotten under her skin, and she would eventually crack. I just needed to bide my time. In the meantime, I kept busy, trying to distract myself from the perfect Little just feet away from me.
"Have some time for a surprise meeting?" Lydia asked suddenly as she opened the door. Startled by her sudden appearance while going through the papers of whose loan was due today, I looked up at her, amazed by how quietly she had crept in.
I smiled at her from my desk. "I do," I agreed without hesitation. "I always have time for my assistant. What is it you need?"
She cleared her throat, seeming distracted by something rather than paying attention to me.
"Rebecca said that she was going to be heading out to pick up pizza for everyone and wants to know if you want anything special on the pizza," she told me, her voice low and distracted. "Any requests?"
I smiled and leaned back in my chair, staring at the woman I desired.
