"Well, it's my night job," I joked. "It's not too bad, though. You meet plenty of interesting people on these routes, so it's not that bad." Once she was buckled up, I continued. "So, is there any place you prefer to go to?" Tapping a finger to her chin, she thought for a moment.
"Honestly, I didn't even think about it," she admitted, sounding a bit sheepish. "I suppose I'm good with whatever you choose." Seeing the amount of freedom she gave me, I had to think for a moment.
I didn't want to take her anywhere too fancy until I had a better idea of what she liked, but I refused to take her for just anything. After thinking for a moment, I shrugged.
"I can think of one place that would be pretty good," I told her. "It's a bit of a drive, though. Are you okay with that?" She didn't even hesitate as she spoke.
"Of course," she agreed, her cheery voice excited by the idea. "That will give us plenty of time to talk." Nodding in agreement, I started the car, and we started down the road to the restaurant I had in mind.
As we drove, I turned on some music, and she sang along a little bit, refusing to sing the cuss words when they came up. Overall, I found it adorable and couldn't help but smile as she sang along. After a while, she stopped paying attention to the music and more attention to the outside world.
"Where exactly are we going?" she asked, sounding both nervous and genuinely curious as she spoke. Stopping at the stoplight, I turned to smile at her.
"We're going to one of my favorite places," I informed her. "Trust me. You'll love it." She tilted her head to the side as she considered this for a moment.
"So, tell me something," she decided after a while. "Why did you decide to ask me out?" Considering this, I shrugged.
"It's your birthday," I reminded her, a bit confused by her question. "Everyone deserves a great birthday, regardless of their age." In the light of the street lights, I saw her turn pale as she lowered her gaze.
"Do you know how old I am?" she asked, sounding upset by the idea of me knowing her birthday. Feeling even more confused, I shook my head.
"I don't," I admitted. "How old are you?" She went silent for a moment, seeming to debate with herself on whether or not she wanted to tell me. Taking a deep breath, she shook her head.
"I turned twenty-four today," she finally responded after a while, and I frowned as I considered this.
I knew that Littles had a problem with their twenty-fifth birthday, but some did start worrying at twenty-four. Not that I ever had to deal with a Little worrying about their birthday like that. Usually, when I had Littles, they had cheated on me and left me for another Daddy by the time they turned twenty. That was the problem with young Littles.
"I see," I finally said, deciding to bite the bullet and take the risk. "Are you upset because you think you're too old to be a Little?"
CHAPTER FIVE
Jessica
As soon as the words left his mouth, he winced, almost as if he wished he could have taken them back as soon as they were said. However, the damage had already been done. I couldn't believe my ears as I stared at him in shock and disbelief.
How did he know about Daddies and Littles? Even though I was shocked, I couldn't help but feel as though I knew deep down all along. All the signs were there, even if I hadn't noticed them. A smile started to spread across my face as I stared at him.
"Is it that obvious?" I asked, wanting to kick myself for having been so foolish. He looked surprised by my question, and I waited patiently for his reaction. After a moment, he finally nodded, his eyes still on the road.
"Yes," he agreed as he risked a glance in my direction. "Just a little bit, though. I was almost convinced that it was just me." Considering this, I shook my head.
"I'm an idiot," I finally stated. "I can't believe I made it so obvious." Frowning, he glanced at me once again.
"Isn't it a good thing I know?" he asked. "It makes it so much easier on both of us." Nodding in agreement, I looked over at him.
"But what if you hadn't been a Daddy?" I asked. When he paused to consider this, I nodded in response. "Exactly. It could have been a total disaster, and the night would have been ruined before it even began." Realizing I was right, he sighed.
"I'm still glad that I found out," he informed me, and I couldn't help but smile.
In all honesty, I was relieved that he knew, and I was even more relieved at the fact that he had taken it so well. Anybody else who wasn't a Daddy would have freaked out and made a big deal over my kink, saying that it was perverted and every other insult I've ever heard in my life. I had heard the conversation before, and I didn't want it to go down that road, especially on my birthday. Now that everything was out in the open, I couldn't help but feel extremely lucky that it had gone so well.
Before long, we pulled up to a small diner on the front side of town. Because I had never been to this side of town, I had never heard of the diner, but I was eager to try it, especially after hearing that it was his favorite place to go to. As I got out of the car, I followed him across the parking lot and into the diner.
"The food here is good," he informed me, "but the pie is the best part. It's my absolute favorite place to come after work, especially after a long day." Holding the door open for me, he followed me into the dining area, and I couldn't help but smile as I looked around.
The diner looked like it was from the late forties to fifties with the jukebox, the checkered floor, and the tables with the red leather seats. Even the staff's uniforms seem to fit the era right down to the crimson red lipstick that the waitresses were wearing. We sat down, and the waitress brought over glasses of water for us along with our menus. As soon as she was gone, I looked back down at the menu.
Even the food seemed like your typical fifties diner food, and I couldn't help but smile at the nostalgia of it all. Even though I hadn't been alive in the fifties, I was fascinated with the era. I saw Grant set his menu down as I continued to look at mine.
