"You decide on what you want to eat?" he asked, and I shook my head. Shrugging, he motioned towards the dessert section of the menu. "You can never go wrong with pie, especially in a place like this, but order whenever you want. After all, it is your birthday." A smile spread across my face as I sent the menu down.

"Do you come here every day after work?" I asked. Immediately, he shook his head.

"Not every day," he corrected, "but I do come here more often than I'd like to admit. It's a nice little place that truly makes you feel at home when you come here. That's why I love places like this." Smiling back at him, I nodded in agreement.

"Makes you think back to a simpler time, doesn't it?" I asked, and he nodded in agreement as I continued. "When I was a kid, my parents showed me movies like Grease and Grease Two, and I became obsessed with diners like this. It's too bad that there aren't many places like this anymore." Again, he nodded an agreement.

"I know the pain," he agreed as he looked back around the diner. "Nowadays, everybody just cares about fancy restaurants or fast food. Nobody ever takes the time to come to places like this." When the waitress returned to our table, we both ordered a slice of pie and decaf coffee. Once we were alone, he continued. "So, how long have you been a Little?" Immediately, my face turned red in embarrassment as I lowered my gaze.

"Since I moved to the city," I admitted. "I heard about it when I met a professor at school who was a Daddy, and we started going out for a while until he left me for a younger girl. After that, I started looking for other ways of meeting Daddies, but I had no luck." Grant considered this for a moment before shaking his head.

"Is that why you were so afraid of your birthday?" he asked, sounding genuinely curious as he spoke. "Were you just afraid that you were never going to find anybody because of what he did?" Thinking about his question, I couldn't help but shrug.

"I don't know," I replied. "I just know that a lot of other people who reached the age of twenty-four and twenty-five, and those Littles end up being replaced and eventually have to embrace adulthood. I don't want that to happen to me. I know it's childish, but I enjoy reliving parts of my childhood, and I hate how society tries to make me feel like it's not okay to continue to like those things even as an adult." Much to my surprise, Grant smiled as he nodded in agreement.

"And that's what makes you the perfect little," he said. "That and how tiny you are. Any Daddy would be lucky to have you, and I can't believe that you got mistreated so badly before. "If it had been me, I never would have let you go, even if it was for somebody younger." A smile teased the corner of my mouth as I stared at him.

"I wish it would have been you," I admitted, finally allowing the smile to spread across my face. "In all honesty, my ex was a total jerk, and I can't believe I liked him in the first place." Grant threw back his head and laughed as he shook his head at me.

"Don't just go throwing around insults," he warned. "You never know what might happen." Taking a deep breath, he continued. "I understand, though. There had to be something wrong with him if he let someone like you go."

CHAPTER SIX

Grant

We both talked and laughed throughout the rest of dinner and got to know each other better, and I was amazed at how well the two of us got along. After all this time of being afraid to ask her out due to the fear of what everybody else would do to her, I couldn't believe that I had missed out on getting to know such a fantastic person. Now that I knew more about her, I wanted to see her more and more, and I refused to let anybody try to tell me otherwise.

Once we were done eating, I paid for the meal, and we set off back towards the car. When we were both buckled, I asked her if she wanted to go home or if she wanted to continue with the night. She thought for a second before shaking her head.

"I'm sorry to say this," she replied, "but, as much fun as tonight has been, I need to head home. I have to work the early morning shift and don't want to be out too late." Looking at the clock, I realized she was right, and disappointment set in as I nodded in agreement.

"I suppose you're right," I agreed, "but I don't want this night to end. Instead, I want to spend more time with you. I did have fun tonight, and I want to get to know you better." A smile spread across her face as she nodded in agreement.

"Do you think that we could see each other again?" she asked, her voice hopeful as she spoke. Considering this for a moment, I nodded in agreement.

"I don't see why not," I replied. "After all, every Daddy needs a Little just like every Little needs a Daddy." Tilting her head to the side, she stared at me in confusion.

"What are you saying?" she asked, and I took a deep breath, willing to risk it all at that exact second.

"I would like for you to be my Little," I replied, making up my mind as I spoke. Hearing the words come from my mouth solidified the situation for me, but I was willing to take the chance so long as it was with her. "I want to show you how a true Daddy treats his Little." She lowered her gaze, and I was afraid that she would say no. After a long silence, I had prepared myself for rejection when she looked up and smiled at me.

"I would love to be your Little, Daddy," she said, and I heaved a sigh of relief at this. "I'm not going to lie to you. I've been hoping that you would ask me. For a while, I always suspected that you were a Daddy." Chuckling, I shook my head at her.

"I have wanted to all this time," I admitted. "The only reason I didn't is that I've seen what the other nurses do when they suspect that I am interested in anybody, and I didn't want them trying to chase you off as they did with the other interns who showed interest in me." Tilting her head to the side, she stared at me in confusion.

"What exactly do you mean?" she asked, and I took a deep breath.

"The nurses at work can be cruel sometimes," I explained, "especially when they feel threatened or like they're not getting what they deserve. They chase away the interns and constantly flirt with me, and get mad whenever I don't pay any attention to them. After seeing what happened to the most recent intern, I didn't want them doing the same thing to you, so I kept my distance for a while." Her jaw dropped as she stared at me in shock.

"Was what happened to Leah?" she asked, and I shook my head.

"No, of course not," I protested. "I'll admit that I was trying to help the intern in every way I could, but I never did anything to make them hate her. As much as I hate to say it, every nurse at work is a jealous jerk who mistreats the other interns so that they can get ahead in life. I felt bad for her." Even though she didn't seem convinced, she shrugged.

"I guess you're right," she agreed. "After all, they've been terrible to me ever since I started working, and I've been keeping my head down all this time." We both fell silent for a moment, and I considered all my options for a moment.

"Do you want me to just drop you off at your place?" I asked her. "Or would you like to come back to mine?" She thought for a moment before shaking her head.

"As much as I hate to say it, I think it would be better to call it a night and head home," she decided. "After all, we both have work tomorrow, and I don't think you have anything at your house ready for me." I started to agree before frowning in confusion at her.
