CHAPTER NINE
Daniel
It’s so strange to realize how much progress she’s made in school. She’s a straight-A student and she loves when I take authority with her regarding her studies. She almost comes alight with excitement when that happens, and her excitement makes me feel wonderful.
So, I don’t understand why she’s hesitant right now. Frankly, I hate entering into a discussion about it without any idea of what might result from the conversation. On the other hand, I feel like our relationship is growing and part of what delivers our growth is honesty and communication. I’m willing to say it’s not part. It’s all.
Sure, you can be attracted to someone. You can fuck someone. You can even love someone. Without honesty and communication, though, a relationship doesn’t grow.
“Come over here a moment, little girl,” I say, “pretty please with vanilla fudge ripple, whipped cream, and a cherry on top.”
She giggles as she comes over and sits on the couch. She snuggles and that delays me for another few minutes. I don’t want to ruin the moment and I guess I don’t want to disappoint her, to make her feel foolish for thinking I call her over for cuddling. It delays me for more than a few minutes. I lean back while I hold her, grab the remote and search for something to watch.
“Oh, let’s watch a movie, Daddy!” she says.
“Okay, princess,” I say, “you pick.”
She squeals and takes the remote. It’s such a strange thing for me, to see her respond so eagerly and enthusiastically to the superficial aspects of DDlg. I think that’s my issue. When we get deeper there are amazing results and yet right now, my little curvy beauty looks absolutely happy, completely filled with joy.
Over picking a fucking movie.
I mean, I love when she’s happy, and I don’t mind watching a cartoon musical with singing mice or cats or whatever but there is something completely breathtaking about what happened with her school. I just want to see more of those important, deeply relevant things happening in our relationship. How in the world will she stick with me if everything is fun and games?
“Daddy,” she says with a giggle, “shouldn’t we have popcorn?”
She’s already up off the couch. “You want some, Daddy? Do ya? Do ya, do ya, do ya?”
I can’t help but laugh. “Okay, little girl,” I say.
“Yay!” she says as she skips over to the kitchen. “Hey, do you want real popcorn, Daddy? Instead of the microwave?”
“Wow,” I say, “Do you have any idea how long it’s been since I had real popcorn? Well, at home anyway.”
“Leave it to me, Captain,” she says as she stands up ramrod-straight and performs a salute. Again, I chuckle and once more, she disappears into the kitchen. I hear her singing a song I recognize vaguely and look around the living room as she does. It’s covered with stuffed animals. They’re arranged neatly but there are tons of them. Some are from before me but I probably get her three or four a week.
She loves being a little girl.
She loves having a Daddy.
But does she love having a Daddy Dom?
I force myself not to broach the subject yet. She brings the popcorn and along with it, she brings a cooler. In the cooler is ice with beers for me and sodas for her. She sits next to me and draws her legs under her. Then, she grabs a beer, produces a bottle opener, and pops the cap. “I’m the official opener tonight, Daddy,” she says proudly. A moment later she has her drink and the movie starts.
It’s my favorite movie.
We’ve never watched it together.
It’s not the kind of movie she likes. It’s a western from the 1950s, just not her cup of tea. “Are you sure you want to watch this, little girl?” I ask.
“Sure!” she says brightly.
“But… but this is the kind of movie I like.”
She shrugs. “So? Can’t I watch something with you that you like?”
“I just… I mean, it’s okay if you want to watch one of your movies.”
“Okay,” she says. She snuggles closer and says, “I want to watch this movie with you.” This is a really stupid thing for me to be so damned fixated on but I can’t help myself. I sit and watch and I keep trying to figure out why she wants to watch this.
